Mr Ryan is just the fall guy. The au pair and the husband pretended to be the wife online to "set up" a "meeting," which was at the scene. They tried to stage it that they just "happened upon" Mr. Ryan killing the wife.

When I was a kid, my mom and i would watch Lifetime movies and true crime docs about a person having an affair and then killing their spouse. My mom would always yell at the tv, "get a divorce! What's wrong with these people?!"
