Been researching the Santa Fe for a couple months, yours is the best review I've seen. We have a Calligraphy, AWD, hybrid on order. Can't wait for it to show up. Fun fact, the interior was designed during Covid, hence the UV sterilizer.

Nice review although I am a big fan of the shift stalk! It is handy and does not take up space on the console. Win, win to me.

If I could afford to buy one mine will have a black interior. I love the way the gear lever is placed unlike the 3 buttons you find on the previous one.

@@BachmanAutoGroupLouisville Thanks for the great review. Mine is supposed to arrive mid-June so not sure why it's taking so long for them to make it out to AZ. I was also wondering if you happened to know if the AC is any more powerful in the hybrid versions? In Volvo's for example, I've heard that the electric motor in their mild hybrids provide a boost to the AC which would be great where I live. Or just in general, how effective would you say the AC is in the new model?

Absolutely incredible that price in the states, in Ireland that same car is over €70,000,almost double the price here, beyond belief shameful how they get away with charging us that price here in Ireland. Beautiful car I drove it last week but no way am I paying over €70000 for it here.

How reliable is that hybrid engine vs. the toyota ones?
@Sp33dyStallion
@Sp33dyStallion 8 ай бұрын
It's not going to be on the level of toyota engines (because who's are except honda's), but the 1.6L gamma iii engine they use in this doesn't have any serious design issues and if taken care of should keep the car running as long as you care to keep it. 200,000mi+ if taken care of.
@JonOvalle
@JonOvalle 8 ай бұрын
@Sp33dyStallion thank you for sharing that info, it makes me feel more comfortable. Another question. If I usually love doing long road trips (I do), would a Hybrid be a better options vs a regular engine?
@Sp33dyStallion
@Sp33dyStallion 8 ай бұрын
@@JonOvalle If most of your driving is at high speed such as road trips at 70+ mph, you may be better served by a regular engine. Hybrids benefit more from medium-low speed driving. The faster your average speed, the less benefit you get from the hybrid system.

Jon, we have two 22 Tucson Hybrids with the exact same power train as this SF. They've been rock solid and run like a dream. The tranny is also outstanding, very smooth shifts. the transition from ICE to EV and back is seemless and you don't even notice when it happens. We're getting a solid 37MPG out of both of ours. Our Limited has 20K miles and the SEL Convenience has 5K miles. Not a single hint of an issue. I do however think this engine package in the SF is way too small and will make for a very under powered vehicle in the SF which is 900 pounds heaviers without anyone in it. The 1.6 Turbo is a tiny but very reliable engine. The battery pack performs great in all weather conditions fro 110 above to 25 below. Good luck. I have zero experience with the Toyota engine so I'll refrain from commenting.

I have a 2022 Tucson and the reviewers always complain about lack of buttons. I am older than all the reviewers and I dislike buttons and knobs. I prefer none. They break over time, and there are so many on that Santa Fe that I’d have to stare too long to figure them out, the very same complaint against flat screens. My comeback is that your phones, tablets and to some degree even laptops have gone to all touch. No one complains about those. I love, love Hyundai tech and those screens ARE crisp and fast. I drive a 2022 Toyota Highlander hybrid for work and the damned screen has a terrible delay of about a second. When you are switching views on Apple CarPlay Nav trying to check your route views it gets dangerous. You punch it six times because you are always two taps ahead of where it is. Makes you use colorful language. Hyundai is the best I’ve used including German vehicles who still insist on obsolete touch pads and dials, Mercedes being the worst. Wastes huge space in your console. A great review with some details others miss. I am considering trading my Tucson for this Santa Fe hybrid. They both tow 2000lb which is good for kayak or ATV trailers, light campers or hanging bikes off the back with your two hitch.

My sister has a V6 2014 Grand Cherokee - which has been excellent (hood and hing rust, but has never gotten bad enough to fix) - she keeps asking me about how similar the cargo is on this one, and I said - and I said it sure looks similar. Her husband want to tow lightly - like a jet ski trailer and not often.

I don’t need a 3rd row, while it is 190 inches. It’s not that big as you said. I have a 22 SF getting rid of soon. Figuring what to do. Also, the only way to get a black headliner is if you get that pecan interior. Otherwise it’s a light beige color. The Calligraphy you get a black headliner whichever interior color get. Nice review man.

@@BachmanAutoGroupLouisville Totally, if need a 3 rd row. Get the Palisade or any number of 3rd row vehicles. They’re coming out with a new Palisade soon. Or at least make it optional. Drives me crazy when people say just fold 3rd row down. Same with Sorento, why does that rig have a 3rd row standard? Stupid. Stay well!

I'm supposed to pick mine up tomorrow. It's this exact SF only with gray instead of beige interior. I ordered it the first day they were available for order. It showed up two days ago and the dealer asked me to give them two days to prep it. I've never seen one in person. In fact, I've never seen one in any flavor on the road. I have a feeling these aren't going to sell well. The car is way under powered and the price is ridiculously high for what it is. I'm going to head over to test drive it and go through the motions, but I already know I'm not going to purchase it. It looks super cheap on too many interior parts. I think Hyundai has finally done themselves in with their 50% price increase over just 5 years. I bought two 2022 Tucson Hybrids. A limited for 39K and and an SEL Convenience for 32985. They're much smaller than the 24 SF but have the exact same power train. I can'r justify almost 15K more than my SEL Convenience for the Limited SF. This review was the final deciding factor, so I'm really glad you did this. It's not as impressive as I thought, and frankly, I think my Tuscon's are much better looking vehicles. I get 37MPG on the Tucson's. FWIW they're not fast cars, so this Santa Fe has to be a real dog. It's 900 pounds heavier without anyone in it. Thanks bro, you saved me a lot of money. If they get the incentives going and can bring this down to the 39K level I'd consider it. At 47 and change before taxes and fees I'm 100% out.

All Hyundai's are under powered. I have a '15 Sonata Sport and that thing struggles to get moving. But yea nearly $50k for a Hyundai. They must feel like they've "arrived" and can finally charge crazy prices.

Why wouldn’t the keep the 2.5? This is a big car. That’s far too cheap for a car priced this high. It doesn’t matter if it’s a hybrid. They are crazy. I will not be panicking to merge on the highway. They should rethink this heavy.
