An age old tradition of keeping dolls

It is a tradition in Mysuru to worship dolls during Dasara. Legend says that this tradition was inherited from the Vijaynagara times. And it continues even today. In order to encourage doll makers, Raja Wodeyar made this a prominent part of the festival. People of Karnataka and surrounding states follow the tradition of keeping dolls for display. Pooja will be performed to these dolls for 9 days. People keep various kinds of dolls according to different themes.
