The Talmud states that "the Shekhinah rests on man neither through the gloom, nor through sloth, nor through frivolity, nor through levity, nor through talk, nor through idle chatter, but only through a matter of joy in connection with a mitzvah." There is no occurrence of the word "Shekhinah" in pre-rabbinic literature such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is only afterward in the targums and rabbinic literature that the Hebrew term shekhinah, or Aramaic equivalent shekinta, is found, and then becomes extremely common. McNamara considers that the absence might lead to the conclusion that the term only originated after the destruction of the temple in 70 CE, but notes 2 Maccabees 14:35 "a temple for your habitation", where the Greek text (Koinē Greek: ναὸν τῆς σῆς σκηνώσεως) suggests a possible parallel understanding, and where σκηνώση skēnōsē "a tent-building", a variation on an early loanword from Phoenician (Ancient Greek: ἡ σκηνή skēnē "tent"), is deliberately used to represent the original Hebrew or Aramaic term.

When Yosef was "killed"/exiled to Egypt, he did not start a new way of relating to HaShem. Neither did Yeshua when he sent his Talmidim to represent him after his brothers "killed" him. Gathering the holy sparks was The Mission.

Rabbi please answer a question for me. Where can I find any writings that the Aleph/Tav represents the Holy Spirit/Shekinah? I’ve been studying the Aleph/Tav for about 4 years and feel I’m on a break through as I see its placements throughout Torah. This info will be very helpful to my understanding. So far all I’ve heard other Rabbis say is that it is usually a direct object...shrug. I know it’s more than that. But where can I go to solidify my understanding? Thanks for your teachings and your time. Chag Sameah Hanukkah!

To be vague its in the Zohar and other Jewish literature. There is not a specific "book" per se.

Oh yes! It does sound like something that would be in the Zohar...or maybe in the Tanya. Thanks!

Yosef, a righteous person, dreamed about working in the field with his brothers, binding sheaves. Pharaoh, a wicked man, had a dream which involved no effort on his part at all. This highlights the fact that all matters of holiness require effort, ensuring that what we receive from God in return should not be unearned “bread of shame” (see Jerusalem Talmud, Orlah 1:3) . When a person dedicates himself to serious work, he has the promise of success that “you labored (and therefore) you discovered” (Megillah 6b) . In fact, a person is capable of achieving success far beyond the proportion of effort invested-following the pattern of “always ascending when dealing with matters of holiness.” (Based on Likutei Sichos vol. 3, p. 819ff.)
