An ALTERNATE explanation for the OMISSION of MATTHEW

In this livestream I wanted to share some additional thoughts on the textual variant in Matthew 23:14. It's included in the Byzantine Textform, the Majority Text and the Textus Receptus. Because the King James Version is a Received Text translation, it also contains the passage. But why don't the modern English Bibles contain it? Bruce Metzger's commentary relegates this to a Gospel Harmonization, but is there a better way to explain this textual variant?
