12:26, do note that, those sets normally can be disassembled and some of the pieces can be replaced separately. try to remove it and order it online. sometimes with a picture from your cell you can search via google and find it quite easy ;) at least you can try, if not, you have to replace it all (but that will be more expensive). Good luck

Mel get yourself a blue zone pass. It allows you two hour parking in any blue zones. Green zones are 15 minutes and you don't need anything to park in the green spots.

@miket72262 ай бұрын
@@LifeOnRueduChateau so when you drive through the main streets in towns around you,, you will see parking spots with green stripes - 15 minute spots. White stripes are regular parking and lucky if you can get one - park as long as you want. Blue striped parking spots are blue zoned two hour parking. Go to your nearest town Marie or tourist information stop and buy a blue zone pass. That's about it. Good luck. The pass works all around france except around Paris

I'm from MS, USA. In the 1990s I bought a Country Victorian. It was in good livable shape, so moved right in. I had covered, with the realtor, major things we might have to worry about, like roof, plumbing, electrical. They all had been updated within last 3 yrs. I loved it, even tho years later had to sell it due to divorce. I learned not to try to do too many things at once. Make a list! I went room by room. You have many, many here willing to help y'all in your wonderful journey! I'm sure you'll find France friends willing to help also!

Le blanc (c is silent) departement de l'indre, the river name is la creuse I think, its a medieval city,like most of that region, people think medieval looks like the medieval châteaux in uk...but france kept most of it cities and villages identity...which means that city and it center was active since the middle ages, probably from roman time too, the château Naillac is the attraction 😊. The stairs r cemented,they r not original to the building at all...clearly a recent addition. Don't mind people honking 😅, sometimes they r helping u out when u are parking,sometimes its a way calling somebody and sometimes they just honk🤷♀️. I like yellow😅maybe not like that in a bathroom but yellow is sunshine 💛

Oh yes, I know the c is silent... But I wanted to make sure the Americans and English speaking people understood what I was saying.... 🙃. Yeah not sure what to do with those darn stairs... They're a mess. And oh gosh, you are right. Yellow is a cheery lovely color! But I'm burned out by it lol... I just repainted a 5,000 sqft house that was ALL yellow. Walls, trim, ceiling. Crazy stuff 🤣

You are very brave to be in a foreign country all by yourself not knowing the language AND driving on top of that! I lived in Mexico many years ago & my then husband left me alone a lot and it was very challenging to say the least. I was so glad to have had a store ( family owned ) just downstairs so I rarely had to to purchase anything all by myself lol 🤷 I can hardly wait to see how you furnish your new home as that is one of my favorite things to do when I move to a new place; I find it to be a welcome & very pleasant challenge- anyway thx for having me along I had fun especially at the Emmaus ( loved the rush seat dining chairs that's what I want for my existing dining table ) 🤔

6:12 Welcome to the cheesy play on words for hairdressers saloon names(salon de coiffure) : "L'Hair du temps" from French "L'air du temps" . Être dans l'air du temps is an expression meaning "to be trendy or fashionable" By the way, the C letter at the end of "Le Blanc" is silent. Blanc is the word for white and the c is there because the feminine of blanc is blanche. There are a lot of silent letters in French, specially at the end of words. It's part of the difficulty of learning the language.

When we were in Italy years ago I thought "HONK" was their middle name.LOL.Mel stop worrying over ever thing it will make you sick. The shower if it were me i would do the cheapest way i could and when you are all living there rip it out water proof and tile the shower. There may be hidden problems from time past you cannot see now. Remember Mel you are brave to be there on your own it will get better but you are worrying yourself so much you must stop. By the way sweep the leafs off the steps can get slippy when wet do it off video as great as you are one thing at a time. As the Royals say "Stay calm and carry on" Until next time take care.

@@LifeOnRueduChateau Limoges is a good one. I used to go to the one in Perigueux, now I live in Cognac. I might go tomorrow to find some dog bowls, I did buy 8 curtain rods with rings and filials for 20 euros but honestly there is not much. Much of my furniture came from other Emmaus and before I moved I bought two huge old shop counters to use the wood for kitchen tops and I bought a wuite marble coffee table to use also as a counter top. I also buy large pictures, often posters, with glass, just for the glass to cut down for other frames. The shower discussion went on way too long. I am wondering if you can buy a new faucet in the US and bring it back to France, it will save you a fortune, but I don't know if the fittings are different between the countries. About a month before you come back, call a local french plumber and set up a date for him to come and take a look. It may take that long. Have the new faucet ready. You don't want a bunch of mold growing behind your walls. Good luck.
