@matthewoboyle60103 жыл бұрын
@@zact4980 That’s true about Ted. But that would never work over the course of a whole season, let alone the next two seasons that have already been picked up. They had to make him more human, and less of a cartoon character. Season 1 was absolutely brilliant btw.
@zact49803 жыл бұрын
@@matthewoboyle6010 Oh I agree season 1 was truly great... I have two complaints about the show though, first I wish there was more soccer/football stuff in it. For a show about a coach of a professional soccer team there isnt nearly enough soccer action. And finally I wish ted was slightly more of a moron like in the promos, ala micheal scott from the office. He was a moron and still managed to have heartfelt moments.
@theGregfish3 жыл бұрын
@@zact4980 The lack of technical soccer terms is specifically to be more accessible to a wider audience who may not know anything about soccer. I know I was initially intimidated going into the show because I do not know much about soccer, but I am happy that I truly enjoyed it. Also, another reason could be that, in order to reflect Ted Lasso's personal lack of knowledge in the show, we as viewers experience that with him as we are not taught much about the technicalities surrounding the sport.
@SmallLab1293 жыл бұрын
@@zact4980 I actually like that he's not a moron. I think that was a big change. He went from being a moron to a perpetual optimist that while, way over his head in the game, is a damn good coach. I think if they tried to make this "Soccer Office" it'd have flopped.

By football do you mean Footie or American?
@thelastmanonearth26313 жыл бұрын
As an American with a lifelong obsession with British culture, it felt like the show was made just for me. They seamlessly blend American and British humor, with plenty of jokes just for those on the other side of the pond. I don't know if you'd catch all of it without being deeply entrenched in our respective (and collective) cultures. But it's obvious that the writers room is a nice mix of both British and American.

I once watched American football and I was shocked by all the cheating. They were picking the ball up and running with it and the referee did not even notice. Furthermore they were not even dressed properly, they looked like they were made up of motorcycle messengers and did not even bother to remove their helmets. I suppose it might have been better if they had got proper things to play with, the goalposts had bits sticking out of them like in rugby and the ball seemed to have no air in it - in any case it looked as though someone had sat on it. I have to say that it was even worse than watching Newcastle United. Until this cheating stops, I certainly won't be either watching or playing.
