An 'Ancient' Walk In South Wales - The Rugged Beauty Of The Glamorgan Ridgeway

I noticed that as you leave the grounds of the deer park and begin the upper sheep pasture section, you pass through a new metal gate. There used to be a ladder stile over a stone wall at that point. And that gate, on a Public Right of Way will be padlocked whenever the park rangers want it to be. So you can't be confident of being able to complete a walk over the mountain from Craig yr Aber, whatever the law says. I think there is or was a proposal for a solar farm near the top, near the hillfort.

Enjoyed that Marcus - I went up the Ridgeway Few weeks back, went walking around Margam Park then adventured up to top! :)

Nice one Marcus, my neck of the woods, I was up the top to the old chapel just before the storm, but far to windy to get the drone up over the Park, The Luminate light show is on till 3rd January, went there the other day, well worth the visit in the Park, absolutely stunning show they have put on again this year, also I drove up to the left as you got to the big stone by the pond a couple of days previous to that, not too far a walk up and not too bad a gradient, stil, the views are stunning up there on the Ridgeway, pity its too much for me now, old age doesnt come on its own lol, ty for another look back at the sites I used to cover years ago.

Glad you enjoyed, it is a beautiful area. Yes, you need to be fit to walk up to the ridgeway itself.

I love it around there. But Margam Park is the only place I know where Public Footpaths shown on OS maps are frequently blocked by council employees. I know why they want the public out during shooting, but landowners are not meant to be able to dictate when we can and cannot walk a Public Footpath.
