Hands down, you have the best music of all the vlogs. It so enhances whatever is going on. As for that swan, yowser!!! The duck should have gotten the message sooner. The new fora looks good. But it's that dinner that was award winning. Do you think we can clone Pete? Wishful thinking. Give Hamish and Poppy hugs from me. Take care. Leigh

That's so lovely to hear Leigh, and very reassuring. I love choosing the music for the videos, and the subscription we have for Epidemic Sound is well worth it for access to such a huge music library without any worries about copyright issues. Pete does worry when he hears me playing comedic music then I am editing though, and asks if I am making him look stupid 😂. Pete really is king of the roast dinner, and I know I'm very lucky! We found out that the duck had their own babies a little down the canal from us that they were protecting, so we think that's why it persevered so long, trying to keep the swan away from it's own 😊

Lovely relaxing vlog - thank you! Hamish resting in comfort; a trip to the Garden Centre - and a lovely selection chosen for your boat; Poppy, happy as usual as she greets old friends like Jack, explores her surroundings, or just dashing back to her dad ❤. I've literally just watched Julie and Martin's latest vlog and here they are as your mooring neighbour!! It's always lovely having dinner with friends - especially if it's one of Pete's roasts . . . followed with a Crumble and Custard dessert from Julie 😋. I'm sure your mum appreciated those beautiful hanging baskets Caroline; what a kind thought. Thank you for taking me along with you 😊. Take care xx

You're so welcome Jill! Hamish is relaxed enough to lie up on top now and not try and wander around, as that was always our worry, as his spatula awareness is to too great! It's always lovely to moor to moor up with Julie & Martin as our neighbours, especially when it's a bit of a surprise when we don't realise we are as close as we are to each other! Pete's roast and Julie's crumble after that lovely walk with Poppy made for a perfect Sunday! The hanging baskets are doing so well at my Mum's, a real splash of colour on the front of the house 🌺 🌼 🌸

Daddy swan was very determined to keep the duck away from his family. So it turned out the the daddy duck was doing the same thing? Pete put on quite a spread for the Sunday roast. It looked so good. Of course, I would 'delete the meat' but I think all the rest would have been OK and it surely looked yummy. I'm sure Julie's apple crumble was great too. Love that iconic mooring. Glad you enjoyed it Eric! It always lovely to hear. Another fab weekend moored top with Julie and Martin. The flower boxes are back, but sadly haven't flourished as well as they in previous years, we think due to the extended cold temperatures we have had. We will probably replant them with some autumn bedding plants in the next few weeks. We do have a bird feeder but often forget to put it up, or retrieve it when we do and then move on! 😊
@tteric672 ай бұрын
@@onedaymoreaboard well the weather has not helped them, that’s for sure. Maybe it’s an idea to look for permanent plants, like each box a different season. I think those are more resilient to the weather. Superb to see the herbs box at the front for slug free goodies. Winder if its not possible to leave the feeder out all the time? Have a lovely weekend, guys!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments Bryan! I loved that picture of Pete and Nick and Hamish too, it's a nod to the older days that Nick replicates with his old working boat and even the style of dress he wears to maintain the historic boat image. Thanks as always Swanny! Make sure you have a trolley with the wider wheels, normally advertised as for the beach, as they cope much better with the rugged and muddy tow paths! You can't beat one of Pete's roast dinners, although he will admit to cheating with the Yorkshire puddings. We get the Tesco Finest brand and they are wonderful and create far less washing up, and need less space to prepare, both important on a boat! 😊

Hi guys. Great content and your two Westies are gorgeous. Can I ask how difficult it is to keep a car whilst you continuously cruise finding safe parking places etc... Do you have an old car just in case or a relatively new one. Are you not worried about leaving it? I'm asking as we are thinking to do the same. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend 😊
@onedaymoreaboard2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Howard! We are thinking of doing a whole episode on how we travel and move the car as it's a question we are often asked. It's an inconvenience for sure, but necessary for us still, as Pete sometimes needs it for work to travel to customer meetings, and to be able to easily visit family wherever we are. We have a trusty older car that is nothing flashy so it doesn't attract any unwanted attention when we leave it. We research ahead of moving to see what the available parking is like, zooming in on the satellite view on google maps to see parking lay-bys near canal bridges, or nearby villages. Going through towns and cities is a little harder to find parking, and we quite often will find some not too expensive pay and display car park that allows over night parking. We get back to the car either by folding bike, bus or train, or if it's not too far away then walking. It's all part of the adventure really, and we make it work 😊

On the Leeds to Liverpool Canal we watched this swan drown one of the larger white geese. We tried to stop it happening but we could not get to it. It was not protecting its off spring - it was just a psychotic swan! Not quite so enamoured with swans since then.
@onedaymoreaboard2 ай бұрын
Wow we have never anything quite that drastic, but have really changed our opinionn of what we thought were just elegant and graceful birds since we have started living so closely to them. Whilst we were in a marina for our first winter, there was one swan that would appear every time we got off the boat with the dogs, hissing and snapping and we would do all we could to try not to aggravate it and get the dogs off and into the field quickly, and there were no babies around then that it was protecting. Quite scary really! 😳
