Omg! I just went through this same feeling last week! I watched Anyone But You and the main characters bridesmaid dress reminded me of my bridesmaid dress from a couple years ago and I was like “ I should try that one for fun” after the movie was over. Turns out my body has changed in the last couple years and I ended up trying on all my nice clothes and about half of them are too tight now and some of them I never got to wear out of the house (thanks covid) and I am heartbroken about it. And they are definitely not very alter-able (no seam allowance, delicate fabrics, leather, etc.) I cried and then promptly listed most of them on Poshmark so hopefully they will sell and I can use that money to replace them with nice things that have a bit more size flexibility.

Having a visible repair by the butt crack might be hard to do in a way which looks nice 😅
@miipmiipmiip2 ай бұрын
Yes!! There are discreet ways to repair it that don't involve a visible patch. Opening the back seam, putting a patch underneath and doing machine stitching on top in a way that matches the denim's grain direction and colour will make for a repair that mostly blends in. Putting a patch on top would be a much inferior way to go about this.

Anything that isn't my current size, season or my brain hates but I've previously loved goes into vacuum bags under the bed by size/season so I can review it regularly. 1) Re: the summer jeans with the rip - if you don't mind a noticable patch, I think they could be salvageable! I'm guessing that the rip happened because the fabric has become too thin and worn, which means that additional rips are likely to happen, but you could ask a tailor to reinforce that area by adding a stronger fabric on the inside. They might not even need to sew it on and hide the seams -- there's all kinds of things you can glue on with a hot iron without messing up the fabric now! I'm not 100% sure that this is possible (let alone how much a service like that would cost), so take this with a grain of salt, but I think it might be worth it to talk to a tailor about it at least. 2) Re: the yellow dress with cutouts -- fully support getting rid of it, something just isn't quite right 3) As somebody whose weight also fluctuates a LOT (albeit not for child-related reasons), I super recommend storing clothes that don't fit you in pre-sorted vacuum bags with labels like "season x", "when i'm pregnant", "when i'm breastfeeding", "if i'm ever a size [smaller]", "if i'm ever a size [bigger]", etc.. That way, when a new life situation arises, you immediately know where to look for new additions to the wardrobe, and you don't need to sort through all the clothes you've put away every time that something changes! (I know personally, especially when I've gained a size again, I don't want to be sorting through the clothes that are now two sizes too small for me in order to find what I'm looking for now; it just makes me sad.) 4) Re: the brown shorts that you never reach for -- they could be good for early autumn over tights maybe? (Like a miniskirt.) Personally, I'm a big fan of shorts over tights (with boots), and it'd give you more colors to play with in your autumn wardrobe without buying anything new. (Especially since several of your mini skirts currently don't fit.) 5) You also don't need to take clothes off hangers every time you do a clearout. I like to simply like to take them *by* the hangers and lay them gently on the bed so that the hangers don't get too chaotic, and only take off the hanger whatever I actually need to try on or what's going into storage. Sometimes, like you seemed to be considering, I don't even take them out of the closet, just flip through them one by one, taking out things I'm not totally sure about. (You also have that big rail now -- not sure if it's a living-room-only setup or if this could work for future clearouts in the bedroom too!) Love all this 'slow fashion' content!

Nooo you can def fix those jeans in a very minimally visible way, you need to get some lightweight to medium interfacing to back the area with and then get a couple different coloured cotton threads to match the denim and then you go over the area on the machine with a small zigzag stitch a bunch of times. The area will be a bit stiffer than the rest but you can barely tell at all

I love Leena but she's wrong! That hole is SO fixable. You could darn it using the threads still in place as one of the weaves. And pop a bit if fabric behind it. CUTE!

Shouldn't it be anti-climaCtic? like, there's no climax instead of there's no climate. Not a native speaker though 😅

@@morehannah Thanks Hannah (my autistic brain can't wrap itself around the words needed to explain myself further than this right now other than gratitude for the validation). Also, thanks for another good video.

Those jeans 👖 you said you might get rid of, I think they are well worth a repair job. I had an inexpensive but very comfy pair of jeans that I thought were beyond repair, but I found someone local to me that sorted them out pretty good 👍. It cost me more than the jeans did in the first place, (and I bought them a long time ago) but I saved them from landfill, paid someone a fair wage for a skilled labour and I still have my lovely jeans that are no longer available to buy 🩵
