"Be nice to people who are not nice to you" - Incredibly valuable message. People, there is a reason why people are mean. Maybe you just met them of a bad day. You have bad days too. Why would you waste a chance to meet an interesting human being, just because of a temporary state. Sometimes you find your best friend in somebody who had bad start with you. Your positivity is amazing! Thank you for this post!

I think that one of the great aspects of religion/sincere prayer is the practice of stating your thanks for all the good things in your life. It really changes your attitude. I still take time to think about and list all the things I am grateful for now that I don't pray. We, in the US, are especially fortunate because of where we live. I am blown away by all the people in the US that belittle and take for granted our great country. The US isn't perfect but it's still a great place to live.

What a fantastic video! It aligns very much with my view on life. I had a very hard life growing up (poverty, violence etc.), I appreciate every little thing in my life, that God has given me. My family, my friends, my work, food on the table, a car, being able to help my mother and my grandparents, and many more things. Keep up the good work, brother!

had a former employer who always put pressure on the way people worded things which really limited my choices when making decisions to respond. in hind sight, the workplace was toxic. Turns out there are people who understand time is limited, and don't fixate on tiny details like the order of words. My antidote to burnout was finding a new job.

This REALLY resonates with me! I actually had my therapist (Yes I see a therapist, amazingly helpful :) suggest something similar when I had asked about finding balance and keeping stress in check during a job search. You're SO right. My father shoveled snow or sand off of runways for a living, and my mother pressed buttons at a plastic factory. The work we do and all the privileges a career in tech can confer are nothing short of miraculous!

Congratulations on the addition of your daughter! Also, congrats on the haircut, looks great. And thank you for this video and all the others. I'm pretty stoked to go to work on monday's, and am super thankful for the opportunity that I have to work in a field that I'm in love with. i'm hoping to get back on the train of doing some dev work, outside of work, and learning how to better balance life (serious struggle, but all of the things that i'm 'balancing' are pretty awesome, so it always feels like a win win). It's great to see ya!

Are you a Mormon? If not, what religion? Tech world is sorta assumed to be mostly atheist liberal types. I'm atheist but still conservative (modern conservative, I believe in gay rights). I use to be Mormon which is why I am so curious. I respect people's right to believe as long as they respect my right to not believe.

Great message, actively seeking out things you can feel grateful for is definitely a good technique to combat negative feelings. I'm pretty sure I heard this before on a podcast named: Hidden Brain My sister (phd in psychology) recommended me this podcast, and I listen to it since. Check it out!
