*General Ralph Haines, who had organized the breakfast, and I laid hands on this young girld and asked God to heal her eyes and restore her sight. After the prayer, they thanked us and left. Nothing seemed to have happened--no-miracles-so we continued to pray for other who were waiting in line. A few minutes later, this same girl came running throught the back door of the NCO Club, joyously happy! She was screaming at the top of her lungs, "I can See...I can see... I can see!" Everyone stopped what they were doing while she came running over to us to explain what had happened.* Who is the father? Who is the girl? I checked and it can't be General Ralph Haines (Only one mentioned by name). General Ralph Haines had two sons. I wish we know more about this father and young girl. I wish we saw things like this happening today. It seems whenever we test miracles like this or try to get the real information on it, there isn't good information. Barbara Snyder is a case lots of people bring up but her story is also odd. She mysteriously gets sick and mysteriously gets better. Doctors at that time thought she might've been misdiagnosed from what I read.

These beliefs hit me hard... because people who have medical problems desperately want help. The medical community is their best avenue to improve their lives. Many churches work with medical professionals to help people improve their lives. That is amazing! However there are the churches that promote "miracle" cures which often tend to be bleach. There are churches giving medical misinformation. Then there are churches telling people to give the money to the church and God will give them blessings of healing. Religion has a lot of great things about it but it can easily be abused. There is no reason to think that this little girl had her eye sight cured by a miracle. We don't even know if she exists. There is not one confirmed miracle. I'd love to respectfully talk to Sal about this but he closes up in conversations with those he disagrees with.

Hi Brian! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I understand your concern about churches who tell people to give money for healing or who promise miraculous cures and discourage use of medicine. Those are practices I'm against. You said, "There is no reason to think that this little girl had her eyesight cured by a miracle." Well, that depends. Maybe for you there is no reason to think it, but for me, there are good reasons. First, I've experienced miracles firsthand, so I already know what God is capable of, and I expect miracles. Second, if someone seems to be a credible witness, then I have no reason not to believe. I agree with you that it is frustrating that we don't know the details about the girl. I'd prefer if we did have the details. You said, "There is not one confirmed miracle." Brian, I've heard a lot of people make that assertion, and it is one of the silliest things I've heard humans say. This is blindness worse than any physical blindness. I pray that the Lord may forgive you and remove your blindness.

@@BreadofLifeChannel I appreciate the back and forth. My standard is very high to believe that God is curing people. I would like a test where we take 2000 blind people and have 500 prayed for, 500 working with a medical professional, 500 who get both and 500 who get nothing (Not very ethical...). From here we could look at the effect of each treatment. The people would be randomized in the group. If the test came back overwhelming towards the blind being healed, I'd think there is something here. I truly believe that the medical professionals would restore more sight than the religious individuals. I believe the religious individuals would see effects similar to the no treatment group. This is all just speculation but something like this would either confirm my beliefs or have me leaving them behind and believing miracles do happen. This is my standard.

Brian, if people can get medical treatment to receive sight, why would we depend on a miracle? Your experiment makes no sense. Anyone who can get medical treatment to receive sight should do so. It would prove nothing if 1,000 who were treated with medical treatment could receive sight and the others who were not treated did not get well. That only thing that would show is that your idea was ill-conceived because you demanded that God do a miracle for something we didn't need a miracle for. Your standard reveals your own blindness. Again, praying that your sins may be forgiven so that you can see.

@@BreadofLifeChannel What "miracles" have you witnessed? Are they absolutely inexplicable by anything other than the supernatural? When something does not have an easy, obvious answer, why do you default to, Well, must have been God, then! Hallelujah! It's ok to admit we don't know everything.

Why can't we find this girl or her father so that they can witness for us? Did she get checked by a doctor who might have had an answer as to why her vision returned? She might have had a twin sister who was not vision impaired who ran in to claim this "miracle". Did all the others he prayed for get cured too? Of course you know that there's no such thing as a religion-based miracle. Why can't you accept that there are some things that just can't be explained with the technology and knowledge we have now? Why must everything be filled with the god of the gaps?

Hi Rebekah, should Christians celebrate halloween? struggling with this.
@BreadofLifeChannel
@BreadofLifeChannel Жыл бұрын
Hi Jules! Thanks for your question. Some Christians believe we should avoid celebrating halloween because of the glorification of evil such as witches, monsters, etc. Other Christians believe that halloween is the one time a year when neighbors see each other and the community aspect is worthy of celebration. I don't celebrate the evil, and I try to avoid the horror and scary stuff, but I participate in dressing up and giving out candy for the important community aspect. When I dress up, I try to dress up as a godly person from history, or someone worthy of honor. There is always evil around us whether at halloween or any other time, but my personal opinion is that I can do more to advance God's kingdom by being a friendly neighbor who participates in wholesome ways, than being the person who shuts the door and turns off the light. I always took my kids trick or treating, and it was a great time together. May God bless you and guide you!

Hi Evans! It's okay if you don't believe. Do you believe that life spontaneously arose from non-life and developed into all the varieties of life we see today? Just curious. I find that story much harder to believe. :)

Wow, what a kind Christian you are, Rebekah. Evans doesn't buy this ridiculous lie and you scream accusations of evolution believer at him. No, wait, that makes you a real Christian after all. How delusional.
