Ryo, Bocchi, and Nijika get at least one song, but while Ryo and Nijika get the EDs, the one Bocchi sings is a cover of an Asian Kung Fu Generation song. Which I think is appropriate.

The author of Bocchi The Rock is Aki Hamaji. She parodied her own name in the manga by changing it into Fuyu Hamaji. "Aki" means autumn, while "Fuyu" means winter.

This episode was truly the turning point of the show for me. Not that I didn't like it at first, but her next level social anxiety does brings out my anxiety a bit, with some frustration too. But hey, when they start playing, none of that mattered anymore. And I was able to start appreciating all the creativity they put in the show. Fun fact, this first song they performed, "Guitar, Loneliness and Blue Planet", during the watchalong podcast of this episode, between the music director of the show and the manga author herself, she said she didn't put much thoughts in making that title lol, and she was amazed they made a song out of it. I'm sure she was being a bit modest, but it's amazing the anime brought the song to life.

I have low amounts of anxiety, but I think I have learned to cope with it. It also helps that I prefer to be an introvert and have a small dose of narcissism. So, I guess I'm kinda a cross between (a milder version of) Bocchi and Ryo. I think it helped my own anxiety when I decided to perform in the school play in high school. It was my first time performing on a stage before, and we all relied on each other to be there, to know their lines, know their blocking, and not to screw up the scenes we were in. So, like being in a band or on a sports team, we all had to be a cohesive unit. There was no time to have anxiety, when others relied on you. Also, once you are on that stage and you are performing to a crowd, a certain amount of adrenaline kicks in, probably more so for a rock and roll band, because if you are good, the crowd is cheering you on to succeed. If you suck, we'll there will be less cheering. In terms of the difference or evolution of Bocchi's guitar playing, I think the environment that you are in affects your own energy level. If you are playing in a small room, by yourself, dimly lit, then by extension, you're going to feel isolated and depressed. And that will come out in the playing. If you are in front of a crowd and people want you to succeed, then your energy level goes up, not to mention the blinding lights hitting you, LOL!

Cute black kitty! :3 I'm sure it was just a very wild and unfortunate coincidence, but I saw a black cat on a Friday the 13th and my parents and I had the WORST day of our lives. Canceled trip to Japan while halfway there at the layover in Toronto, spending hours at the airport looking for lost luggage, and a LOT of stress over the course of that Friday and Saturday. But yeah, cats are cute. And this anime is cute. XD

I really agree with what you had to say about anxiety. I had 2 phases in my life where I went outside of my comfort zone and was outgoing and actually got popular in one of those attempts. I met many friends that I still talk to today in that time, but it just didn't feel like being myself while doing that.

for me the animation of that garbage can just slowly slipping off Bocchi's butt is done so flawlessly it's amazing, it's exactly how that happens irl and I love just tiny details like that added in for no reason outside of the staff REALLY wanting to have done this series for years and going in on everything.

Miso was being so cute this video!🥰 Also, another possible reason that Bocchi was more confident this time around besides audience size is that they have a vocalist now. When it was just her, drums, and bass, that would make her essentially the lead person with most/all the melodies. On top of rounding out the band, Kita's presence also draws some of the spotlight away from Bocchi which probably makes it easier for her.

Yep, Kita serving as the vocalist does draw the spotlight away from Bocchi. But there's also another reason Bocchi was more confident, and that is the talk with Nijika. Bocchi was touched by Nijika's dream and really wanted to help her realize her dream. This connection between the two helped Bocchi be more confident and break out of her anxiety, which is another big step forward for her.
