Lovely tour. If you haven't done so already, consider making copies of your blueprints and handwrite in your current plantings (common, botanical names). As the years go by, you'll edit. Then you can keep a journal for each year, with the blueprint attached. This garden is going to be a showstopper.

Ash, I recommend you start a journal, whether paper or digital, where you can make notes of what works and what plants were problematic and why, or list plants that tried to take over the world. You can list the variety names and where you got them for if you need more. One day, that journal will be irreplaceable. Love to see an enthusiastic gardener. Your garden will definitely be a destination in the area. When its time to divide, you might be able to sell extras. (Unless they are copywriten)

The garden is going to be amazing next year. Ash, it’s great to see your excitement. You’ve becoming a true gardening aficionado! I saw you roll your eyes at Terry’s request for a Japanese garden. But with another few years to do the lower garden and the Japanese garden you’ll have a great drawcard for the chateau. I can see spring garden parties and maybe nighttime musical soirées or garden tours as fundraisers or Chateau revenue. Perhaps even offering an annual garden festival retreat for local and national international guests, maybe with Shane as a guest speaker with tours of local gardens, and brocante and tourist attractions. I hope you include a gathering area in the lower garden for seating parties of visitors or a marquee for events. As the garden grows consider forming a l local gardening volunteer group. We have one where I live in a conservation area, where volunteers meet to weed, prune, mulch and plant on Friday mornings. I’m sure you would get lots of interest from locals. Love seeing the garden grow! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻🌳🌲🪻🌹🌷

When Ash was talking about being surprised by the Japanese garden, I was laughing remembering the time Ash and Terry were at a brocante and Terry picked up a light (I think) he just had to have. Ash said, "Where are you going to put that?" And Terry replied smugly, "I have a chateau." 😄 Poor Ashley will be balancing books forever! The garden reminds me of my favorite garden in England, Hidcote. When they have to split up plants they sell them to the public. I know, I know, you guys don't have time right now, but it might make a good income project for Jonathan during summer break. You "have a chateau" so you definitely have space to pot and store plants to sell in the spring and summer. They will need to be split faster than you can imagine! Or, you can split the plants, pot them, and make a little nursery so you have plenty to use in other places around the property. I hope you kept those plant pots!!!🌳🌳🌾🌾🌿🌿🌱🌱🪴🪴🌲🌲🪻
