🇺🇸 This is a "fictional" scenario for a Russian nuclear attack on the US. Considering the current war in Eastern Europe involving a nuclear state, this is what you would possibly see and hear on live television if World War 3 broke out.
⚠️ Please note that this is a fictional scenario, and any resemblance to real-world events or situations is coincidental. The actual content and delivery of emergency alerts may vary based on the circumstances and official protocols in place at the time.

@JET7C0

It always was - there was more than one occasion where it came down to literally one person to decide not to launch, probably the most famous was Vasily Arkhipov, on a Soviet nuclear submarine. Had he decided to go along with the other officers who wanted to launch, they would've done it. A similar incident happened in 1983, where a lt. colonel in the USSR received an "early warning" radar alert of incoming US nuclear attacks, but decided to wait further evidence rather than pass the warning up the chain of command. That's just two notable ones. So, I think people should be much more worried about a false alarm or some technological error leading to nuclear war, than an actual leader being insane enough to make a "first strike" decision - I'm not even sure their subordinates would follow through, since most humans want to survive, not destroy the world, or be responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths.
@kuessebrama

@@kuessebrama Agreed. I think with Putin for example, if he actually wanted to go nuclear, that'd be the final straw for the people still going along with and protecting him to take him out - I hope, anyway. Even just single nuclear in attack in Ukraine would be disastrous for Russia as a country, without any further nuclear exchange.
@Michael-mh2tw
@Michael-mh2tw Жыл бұрын
What do you mean 'now'? It's been a possibility since ww2. There's an entire period known as the 'missile crisis' where the order was literally given to nuke the US. There was an entire period after which referred to as the largest confrontation of two differing societies in human history. It's not a 'now' thing, and Putin isn't about to nuke Iowa. Grow up, watch less hollywood bullshit

I've been watching (and suffering severe existential anxiety from) recent world events. Today my gf and I took our dog, Willow, for a walk. Willow had the hugest doggy smile on her face, tongue lolling, racing straight to the nearest piles of leaves for me to kick them so she can jump and try to catch them in her mouth. The sun was shining on golden leaves. Change is in the air, Christmas on the horizon. What the hell are humans doing? We could all be with our loved ones, living in the world, playing and having fun. Instead we've got a bunch of dickheads measuring bomb lengths and threatening to take it all away from us, AND FOR WHAT?

I remember back in the early 1980's when I was roughly about 8-9 years old, we had the Russian cold war stuff going on and there was the immanent threat of nukes being dropped on the UK (I was and still am living in Scotland at the time). I remember the fear of being obliterated by a nuke and had nightmares of watching my parents and friends burning and melting in an explosion then I would wake up in sweats in pure panic attacks. BBC TV made a movie called "Threads" which was about a nuke hitting England and how people suffered, died and the fight for survival, it was a good but chilling movie and it didn't help my anxiety. lol. All this crap from Putin has brought all these scary childhood memories back to the surface, I am 47 years old now.

Just imagine how we Americans felt during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. If the USSR had nuked us then we wouldn't have had any notice as the ICBM could have hit any continental US target from Cuba in 30-45 seconds. We are within a hair's breadth of nuclear war right now but at least we will likely have 10-15 minutes to get to some sort of bomb shelter (whether it be a basement, a root cellar or an underground subway station or if in the guaranteed death zone at least we may have a chance to say goodbye to our family and friends.

My 11 yr old son had a dream back in May of the TV making that long emergency noise over and over and it said ‘This is not a test. The world is now at war. Missles and nukes have been launched all over the world. Take cover now. This is not a test.’ I just wanted to share. It was just a dream. But he never hears of any news he’s too busy with school & sports. He doesn’t even have social media or a phone. God bless everyone

Y’all see the thing is, this absolutely can be our reality very soon, we are living in a similar situation as they did in the 1900s, except that it’s more of a threat today because we are just on the edge of nuclear war. So don’t be surprised if y’all actually hear this in real time.

The presentation & editting of your scenarios has been consistently impressive. The formats you use definitely are distinct within the genre. Keep up the good work! One minor nitpick, how come you chose the term 'Emergency BROADCAST System' instead of 'Emergency Alert System'? This presents an achronicity with the media & time place (which is weird since your phrasing of 'National Emergency Message' is consistent with upcoming FCC changes to the terminology used within the EAS.)

Another tiny nitpick is that the spelling is British. We spell defence as defense and Paralyse as paralyze in the US.

Very cool! Genuine question: Would they really spend the first 60s of the EAS broadcast just declaring that it's an EAS interruption, before getting to the actual details? If they don't issue the warning until the ICBMs are on their way... given how long it takes to confirm the launch and get the memo to EAS in the first place, that's a minute off the... maybe 5? minutes people have to react before the first strikes arrive.
@rainavnts8958
@rainavnts8958 Жыл бұрын
I am no official, but I think I may have some sort of answer for your question. The interruption is declared over and over to give the viewers a sense of fear and urgency, and do draw their attention as immediately as possible. Those not in earshot of the broadcast are often alerted by others who are due to the chilling nature of the announcement. If instead the alert gave the information first, a lot of people wouldn't be there to hear it. Additionally, the information is most often longer than the introduction, so repeating the details over and over would take up more time.

As active US military, I am truly ashamed that something like this isn’t something we can imagine. It is a very real possibility now, I honestly hope the worse that happens is that we have to get into another conventional war again, because if there is a winner of a nuclear war, they will be standing on a pile of ash and millions of dead souls.
@RexyFromJurassicPark
@RexyFromJurassicPark Жыл бұрын
There is no winner in nuclear war Only the ashes of innocent people, their homes and belongings In the end, everyone dies, no matter who you are or where you are The high radiation levels will spread worldwide and poison everyone You can't stay underground forever, because you'll run out of supplies at some point But all the supplies will be poisoned by radiation In nuclear war, death is inevitable
