What a wonderful museum. Thank you for sharing Steven. I'd love to bring my partner and kids someday, especially my children so they can get a sense of what it would've been like for their dads had we been born just a little earlier. I'm 34 and feel so blessed for everything your generation did for our community. Im white and live in a rural, very small town in MA and I'm with a wonderful Puerto Rican man and his two amazing children and we have the freedom to just be ourselves in the open because of all the struggles those that came before me went through. I make it a point to teach my kids that our family would not have been accepted here even in my lifetime. I marched on Washington in 2009 for my right to marry and while we haven't taken that step yet we so look forward to it someday. Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to share the thoughts that this museum brought to me and thank you for sharing it.

Hi Steven 👋🏾, Cybil here! I am so honored to have been mentioned in your video. I truly enjoyed your presence and the sacred conversation we had during our flight. Looking forward to seeing you again in the friendly skies or on the ground. I light a candle for your brother Mark along with my son Dre and say a prayer for your continued strength and well-being 💞

Years ago as a Social Worker I was assigned an AIDS caseload. I went out to complete a home call and when I went in to the home I introduced myself to the client. I put my hand out to shake his hand. The client became very emotional, grabbed my hand with both of his and told me that even his doctor wouldn't shake his hand!! I had no idea up until that home call how badly they were being treated...a real eye opener for me. Glad you found areas of interest in SF as most people seem to be staying away due to all the problems the businesses are having and especially with the issues of the homeless. So sorry you lost your brother in such a tragic manner. I'm sure you two would have grown up to have been very close.

Having recently moved after 50 years of living in San Francisco, I throughly enjoyed your walk around the Castro. The weather is like that pretty much every day. I loved living in that City. Harvey Milk was a wonderful human being, a great loss to the Gay community and San Francisco. If you haven't seen the movie "Milk" see it. Sean Penn did a wonderful job as Harvey.

I am old enough to remember AIDS hysteria and most of it was trained at gays. The violence, fear, and lack of compassion was a cancer. Such a terrifying time. Watching “Pose” brought back all those memories for me and I was in tears and my young crashpad roommates didn’t understand as they are living a different life than older gays did. That history needs to be preserved and I’m glad it’s being done. I’ve been casually heteroflexible my entire life, thus having the privilege to “hide” in plain sight. I’m so glad that the community can live outloud in ways they never could. Especially younger queer people. I remember ACT UP and how fierce they were. No one cared about AIDS until Rock Hudson died and celebrities started voicing what was happening. Having lost my only brother and only sibling, we are family and you are heard. And finally… Folsom Fair… gotta love those SFO layovers. I attended last year and had a ball!! 😂👌🏾

I really loved this video Steven. I have not been to San Francisco or the Castro in years but it looks pretty much the same as I remember. The museum was very interesting and you have to watch the movie Milk. Sean Penn is absolutely brilliant and completely transforms himself into Harvey Milk. Prayers for Mark.

Hi Steven. Really appreciate the show of Castro. I havent been exploring in San Francisco in about 7 or 8 years. Last time I went, My friend whom is a flight attendant for United and a local SF Tour Guide showed me areas of san francisco that was pretty cool...places like the Haight-Ashbury where the original Ben and Jerrys is ... and also my personal favorite the Bison paddocks in Golden Gate Park. Thats where you can see live Bison, no need to go to Yellowstone lol. The tower around 14:11 is actually where the Twin Peaks are. Its a popular viewing spot of SF and it does get busy with tourists and tour buses. At 14:47 , you can use your clipper card to take the J-Church train to downtown to either Powell, Montgomery, or Embarcadeo station. From either station, Go up to the mezzanie tap out, and go through the BART faregates for a very easy transfer. Folsom Ave is a pretty long street. It curves near the 101 freeway and will lead you into Downtown SF probably about 3 or 4 blocks south of Market Street. Folsom street fair youre on the right street but youre a couple miles away from where they host the fair. Folsom street you can take the 12 bus which runs the whole length of Folsom into Downtown, through Chinatown, the Cable Cars, and a few blocks from Lombard Street, ending at Van Ness and Jackson. Thank you for sharing love the exploring.

I had to go to SF for an exam and booked 6 months advance. Guess what I got out of my cab and Folsom Fair was going on with signage on light poles. The hotel clerk told me a similar story, not realizing walking with his mother who just arrived that Fair was going on. Definitely interesting outfits seen on public transit, MUNI.

Thank you for the reminder of the past & how it was for the LGBTQ community. I never understood the hatred and still don't. I feel so blessed that my son didn't have to witness or endure all the hatred & terror & sadness of the 70's & 80's & before. He came out in the 90's & has been lucky to have avoided the violence. He lives a peaceful life & has many friends & co-workers who love him for whom he is. You are kind & good person who seems to have a painful past that I hope you can keep in the past & enjoy your freedom to be who you are. Stay well .

You cover so much in your videos; much better than those who travel to a wonderful destination, spend 15 min on make up and 15 SECONDS on the beautiful area they are lucky to be in. *That museum is something-- heartbreaking/ sobering. i always worry for gay folks and the hate people have. *That appaling mess left on the plane! *nice breakfast!! * and Mark... hugs for you and prayers for Mark. This wasn't just a horrible loss, but ohhh, you were just a baby, too, to have to witness it. My heart breaks at this. Be safe! Hugs!❤

Looks like a great trip! It did bring back the sadness of times back then. As a nurse I have many very upsetting stories of young guys who were Stricken with aids. Horrible time. So much ignorance over the disease and predjudice. I will say I’m extremely jealous over your Cole Hann shoes. When I worked in Manhattan there was a Cole Hann a few feet away from my hospital. I must have bout three or four gorgeous pairs of shoes. Each and every one of them were the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I was young so of course I still wore them 🙄 I could never now. I’m glad one of us can enjoy them lol. Stay safe … vickie. Ps please excuse the three dots. I was just told they were triggering. I have no idea why 😳

Hi Steven. Oh wow I just watched MILK starring Sean Penn (who won the Oscar for Best Actor for portraying Harvey Milk) and here you are at the museum of where you have a short clip about Harvey Milk. Oh and I can sooooo see you attending the Folsom Fair (I’ve never been, but I’ve seen Documentaries and Videos on it) I can picture you losing all of this weight and rocking your Leather Bear Daddy gear. YOU should go. I am glad that certain areas like: Chicago’s Halsted street, San Francisco’s Castro st, Wilton Manors, Wilton drive, only just a few more that I can’t remember at the moment here in the USA, to see and know that these areas have been vigilant and have some of our community roots still being talked about and lived out. THANKS for sharing to us that know and to those that never knew, but now know. If you or your viewers have never seen the TV series POSE or the movies..MILK starring Sean Penn, The Normal Heart starring Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo, Boys Don’t Cry starring Hilary Swank, just to name a few..I’d suggest you watch them only if you’re wanting to just let your emotions out..have the popcorn and box of tissues ready for the waterworks. …and YEP you’re right.. ya hear me in the back of your mind.❤ Isn’t it strange that the FAs are the ones that are causing delays..huh???🤷🏾‍♂️ Mark😞🙏🏾 his paper airplane has you flying up high near him when you’re working a flight(s).
