I actually love this vid because it’s just so smooth like they’re not trying hard at all when they’re talking and, not gonna lie, sometimes before I go out with friends I’ll watch this just to see and example of how to talk like a normal fucking person lol Like a how-to-not-be-socially-awkward-video

for what Dan's saying at 13:10, I made a private twitter that nobody follows for that exact purpose and that's helped me loads - I found that the act of tweeting what I was feeling was more satisfactory to me that actually having people engage with the tweet itself, and gets rid of the initial fury without doing any damage

YES! I feel the same way, Reb. I ended up deleting my Twitter account because I realised I had nothing to say. I don't miss it at all, but with Instagram it's different. I used to spend hours watching Instagram stories and I would scroll down until the app said "you've seen every new post". The explore page was the worst, though. It was so addictive. Then I decided to delete my account, permanently. And I feel SO much better. So free. It's been six months and I do miss it, I'm tempted and I tell myself it'll be different now that I've learnt from my mistakes. But this video reminded me why I quit in the first place. Also, this is starting to feel like an AA meeting... oh boy. I'll stop. Instagram is a big part of your job so you can't just delete everything. It's a tough position the one that you're in, social media is a useful platform for someone who works in your field. Balancing the two aspects of 'I don't want to be addicted to it but I also don't want to appear cold and detached to my followers' is hard. But I think that acknowledging it and talking about it helps making it feel less overwhelming.

Thank you for this! One of my neighbours had a very aggressive, very loud.... conversation.. with some people they were kicking out of their house a little while ago, and it made me very tense to say the least. Today's VEDJ helped me unravel the tense knot in my stomach, simply because it was two genuinely lovely people just having a civil, and meaningful conversation with each other. So thank you!

i think it's so interesting so compare "influencers" use of social media compared to "common folk" because of obvious things like the scale of the audience but also due to the idea that social media is your job, so it's even more important to stay wary of the way social media can influence you negatively while still being your livelihood
