It’s one thing to have played these older Elder Scrolls games when they were originally released. You have that nostalgia that’ll keep you going back to it. But it’s another thing to have been introduced to the series with Skyrim and trying to go back to these much older games before it. I tried Morrowind and the combat was just so atrocious, I couldn’t continue with it. Makes me wish I had been familiar with the series back then.

In fact the scythe the Dark Seducer uses in the intro can be found in Morrowind. Bethesda wouldn't stick a callback to Battlespire if it weren't canon. Oh, and don't forget the Savior's Hide you need to defeat Dagon shows up in the later games.

But still a good game like skyrim but looks like doom.

Cool thing about the Battlespire: if you know the cosmology of Tamriel, you can find out that Battlespire is essentially what we'd call a space station. In fact here is some official lore from Kirkbride about an interrogation between Cyrus and Tiber Septim, parts of which involve space combat: www.imperial-library.info/content/tiber-septim%E2%80%99s-sword-meeting-cyrus-restless

Wow, never played this game before, but I must say it looks a lot easier to navigate than the dungeons in Daggerfall. I could never figure out why every single cave and large building not in a city or town had to be built like a claustrophobic labyrinth system. Sure it was annoying, but it also made no sense. ..Dosbox runs Battlespire (along with Arena & Daggerfall) just fine on my 4 year old so-so HP G50 106R. dual-core intel with intel graphics. A virtual machine is far from needed, but you could go to extra time and trouble to do so or just down load dosbox and have the game up & running in a few minutes. I prefer using one of Ykhwong's DOSBox SVN Daum builds though. Put it all on a USB stick and have them where ever you go!

MrRamram720 Either you never actually played Morrowind, you are saying it to be cool, or you smoke crack. Morrowind had the worst combat of all, it always came down to who had the most potions, and by about the 60 hour mark you could kill most things with the right build in a single hit. Or you picked the wrong build and you would have to restart. Lets also talk about the fact most combat was "forward, hit, back, wait, forward, hit, back, wait, forward, hit (miss), back, wait, forward, hit, back, potion, wait, forward, hit" and so on and so on.
@RamRam.7209 жыл бұрын
Captain Shite Stain Morrowind's combat was good for an elder scrolls game, whose melee combat was always lacking. In Skyrim you just mash the mouse button, in oblivion you mash the mouse button , but watch your stamina or you'll swing _slightly_ slower! Daggerfall let you chose direction without walking away from your target. Arena was a very basic version of daggerfall's. Morrowind had direction and you couldn't swing your sword for centuries without getting tired; also most people mainly hated the dice roll, well what do you expect from a game series based of a D&D game?
@Vazz12 жыл бұрын
I got mine on Ebay. It would pop up there from time to time.

What DosBox settings do you use? I'm asking because I can get the game running, nice and smooth, but... it's very small. Like a tiny window surrounded by blackness, unable to fill the entire screen as it is supposed to. Using "ddraw" for output solves this, but makes the game look more pixelated. Any help will be appreciated :)

Yeah, that's the thing - all other 640x480 programs (e.g. WarCraft II, Quake, Descent II, etc.) fill the entire screen properly but Battlespire refuses to do so for some reason. I guess I'll have to put up with ddraw. Oh well... Thanks anyway :)

I am watching his LP's of both games, since getting either to run in Windows 7 is virtually impossible. Actually, in the case of Redguard it literally is..apparently even after a massive amount of tweaking the settings in dosbox there's a point in the game that crashes no matter what.
