I used cloth diapers for all four of our kids, and we didn't have a washing machine I washed them in the tub using a washboard and hung them on a clothes line outside. We didn't even have a vacuum cleaner I swept the floors with a broom. Our fridge was not self defrosting I had to put bowls of warm water in there and use an ice pick to get the ice off. When the kids were school age I worked during the day and he worked at night, one parent was always at home with the kids. It can be done. And it is worth it!

I've been a stay at home mom for 23 years. Living on one income. We have 8 children with 3 still at home. A lot of sacrifices but it was the BEST decision my husband and I could have ever made for our family.

I always pictured Martha cooking up a storm, veggies, meat, baking bread for a group of people/men who were listening to Jesus. They get hungry and thirsty and Martha had to joggel everything alone. She probably wanted to sit down and listen too. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t cleaning house while she had visitors, especially if she invited Jesus herself.

So did I... And I don't understand why the Lord would say that to her, knowing that she sure wanted to honor him.

I was a stay at home mom by choice back in the 80's. It was the best decision I ever made. Very few women were in their homes at that time. I loved your statements telling Moms to let no one shame them for their decision. Many women declared 2 incomes were necessary to make ends meet. God blessed our every need, and our children grew to be well-grounded adults. I also used cloth diapers for the 1st child. Excellent message. I love your sense of humor.

Paster Gary great message - I got the busy, guilty as charged. But you asked a question where you compared modern life to Mary’s life. Just so we cover Mary - she lived at a time with no grocery store a block away, maybe a market, but no refrigeration, no preservatives, no quick fix meals, no electric or gas ranges, no electric lights, no indoor plumbing, no feather dusters, no polish, no vacuum. In her day you woke up working to eat, retain shelter, haul water to the house unless you were rich with slaves. Your message is good, and I take it to heart, slow down and focus on God, God’s word, family, the reason for our life to grow closer to God, to know our Father. I still don’t think anyone person’s life is busier, we all get 24 hours in a day and its how we use them - like prayer, bible study, spouse, kids, work, life…

I like what the late and great D. James Kennedy would say just before reading scripture, “Let us hear the Inspired, Infallible Word of The Living God.” It would be a good practice for every preacher to adopt because it is these three truths that people need to realize and many are missing.

Thank you for sharing and teaching Christ's truth. If I could share, I also get another perspective that we often invite Jesus into our lives but then use dead works that keeps us busy rather than hearing from Christ and receiving good from His completed word. We often try to correct others in order to validate our belief, but who can know the conditions of our hearts except God❤

I know a pastor that said that Jesus blesses people and then He needs to compete with the blessings. The other day I needed someone to visit a Christian girl who moved to a new town. I couldn't find any church who could help. They were all busy. Busy doing what? Christians are really busy doing the wrong things. What makes me puke are mission trips. People don't go to their neighbors' house but then show up for a 4,000 miles trip. They like the traveling not the mission. Pople in the world is very engaged but the church is just busy being selfish. When I was in college, I saw lots of students engaged in many extra activities, but I tried to find Christian students for a prayer meeting and couldn't find.

This sermon is really, really good. I have a lot of time on hand, and all I do is be talking to Jesus and praying for things happening in my life, family, and people I know. I ask Jesus to show me what he wants me to do for him kingdom. From listening to this sermon, what exactly what I have been doing exactly is what he wants me to do. Thank you and God bless!!!

I remember the cloth diapers, for my first baby. They were no fun, I rinsed them out first and washed them with bleach and laundry soap. We didn't have a dryer, so I had to hang them on the line. Yes, the diaper pins were dangerous if you didn't watch your fingers. Those were the days.....not. lol

And if you are a single parent because your husband left you? I work three jobs as a single mom and my daughter is with her grandparents more than me because I literally have no choice. I want to chose my daughter but I also don't want to be homeless. I would lose my place to live if I didn't work. I mean I'm not really sure how much more I can sacrifice. We don't have cable or streaming services. I cut back on everything but with only one parent there is not much choice. I'm trying to get my daughter into a private Christian school so I'll have to pay tuition. But I think that would be worth it.

I understand what you are saying but with so many divorces in this nation hurts families. Usually after the divorce ex-wife’s spend their time telling the kid they don’t need a dad, a father and keeps them away! There you go!
4 children here....cloth diapers after the first 3 months for all of them. One income. . Christian schools principal's job...I know what you're talking about!
