That glowing halo thing is.....uh an iron halo :p It's a conversion field generator. Fancy energy shield that converses all types of energy into light. It's also a holy relic of the chapter and stuff like that can protect you from the warp. Really I'm justifying why Calgar can just walk across the battlefield and not give a warp, but really he's like 1 of 4-5 Ulratmarines thst are covered in ultra plot armor. Calgar just be Calgar.

@RisingKnight64 well I wouldn't say that. Iron Halo can stop literally everything. Like if anyone with a halo was shot by anti tank or anti fortress weapons the halo can stop it, or they get pinged by a las gun and the halo instantly fails. It just finicky. On tabletop if a weapon would go through armor the halo can stop it, I think on a 1/3 chance and that's kind of is how it is in books. Or it's a plot device to say why some inquisitor does get vaporized for bad mouthing a titain or something. Most energy shields work like that. They work till they don't.

@RisingKnight64 yeah it's super hard to make. Guess a good example is a chapter of space marines has some odd 1,000 men + logistical support and maybe 20 would have a halo. It's really only something I would expect to see on a space marine captain or Chaplian. You also see them on high preist or inquisitors or Rouge Traders and planetary governors. In general people who are so rich that blowing what amounts to a national debt on finery is like buying sneakers or people too important to lose.
