How many visibly pregnant women have you met who don't want to have their baby?! At that point the baby is WANTED. The only very rare reason people end a late term pregnancy is when something has gone catastrophically wrong and the mother's life is in jeopardy or the babies life has something severely wrong that would not make not viable. It's really only something a doctor is qualified to be judging. A woman is invested in her pregnancy and her community is looking forward to a new baby after a woman begins to show in the final months of pregnancy. No one makes that choice unless the alternative is truly awful. Just be grateful you've never lived this nightmare and don't judge those who do.

Plus the Mississippi government has bankrupted or are bankrupting rural hospitals (which was mentioned in this video). Rural hospitals don't get much revenue but accept low income rural patients. The low-income hospital patients can't afford the care the hospital provides (no health insurance I guess), and the hospitals are going under without money coming in which would've been provided by Medicaid health insurance. If I'm not mistaken, Mississippi has a lot of impoverished people so the lack of healthcare is very bad there. Plus, if Republicans motto is to allow people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, how do you even work if you're chronically sick or have injuries?

The problem is when you lead people to think you will ban them in the first trimester and don't make exceptions for for birth defects and to save the life of the mother. Abortion is a losing issue for Republicans. Women will be pro-life all day, but almost every woman has been touched by that tough decision in some way in their life or in someone that they know. It’s a very personal and private issue for them. I have so many female friends who are conservative, but 90% of them have told me stories of how abortion has impacted them. It’s a very private issue for them. It’s very personal for them. I would never and have never judged my friends who had to make that tough decision. Doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do, but I’ve gotten that phone call from friends who are scared and terrified. They needed a shoulder to cry on as they made the toughest decision in their life. Nor can they be bothered to consider that many complications for pregnant women--including life-threatening complications--occur in the later stages of pregnancy. A woman's life is on the line at 20 weeks & 4 days, but the doctors are afraid they'll end up in prison if they perform an abortion. And so they refuse her the life-saving medical care she needs. 90% of abortions occur before the 13th wk of pregnancy, but women need access to safe abortions at ALL stages of pregnancy. Not because women "change their minds" at 8 months & abort healthy babies, but because complications/severe health defects can occur later in the pregnancy & women need appropriate healthcare in those situations.

I'm an old woman, who grew up in a Republican household. One of the reasons my parents were GOP was the Democrats, being the party of most Catholics, was anti-abortion, while the GOP was for staying out of people's personal decisions. The Republican party used to believe abortion was a personal medical decision, and the government shouldn't interfere. If they returned to that sensible position, Republicans could easily beat Democrats.

Since the 90s Republicans have become the party of the rural and outer suburban population only. Democrats became the urban party in the 70s and have focused on that, knowing that the majority of people live urban or inner (older) suburb. If Republicans want to win large district, state or national elections the candidates need to start finding out what urban/metro voters need and want...then address that in their platforms. You can raise a lot of money in 10000 person counties, but 20 of those counties aren't going to overcome a 300000 person city surrounded by aging suburbs with another 200000 people.

Those who stay in service for two, three, or more decades retire as millionaires, while we the working people sometimes have a hard time paying our bills.
