5:37 the delorean didn't rust for 2 reasons. 1, the vast majority of it's structure like the body panels and chassis are made from non corroding stainless steel. 2, doc probably did everything possible to preserve it (draining all the fluids, wrapping it in leather etc)

So you asked why Marty didn't go back to 1885 a month earlier... I think Doc said it, "I'll send you back to the day after I wrote the letter".... I think if Marty had gone back earlier, and Doc saw him, maybe he doesn't write the letter.... this could create a time paradox. The results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe!... Granted, that's the worst-case scenario. The destruction however might be limited merely to our own galaxy.

The reason 1955 Doc didn't start to vanish is because his future self went to the old west, and his family were still in Europe prior to 1909. He could not prevent his parents/grandparents from meeting, as Marty did in the first film. Remember, 1985 doc is in 1885, but 1955 doc won't time travel for another 30 years.

You tend to forget that 1955 Doc is YOUNGER than 1985 Doc who is living in 1885. Changes to the future self are not retroactive to a younger self. I saw all three movies at the theatre when they came out. I instantly loved them. My favourite is Part 2 because of the future aspect. When you are living in 1989 and you see a version of what 2015 could be, even as an adult in my thirties, I was fascinated by everything being predicted in 2015! Even though 2015 was seven years ago and they got a lot things wrong, I still prefer Part 2. Although Part 1 is still also a favourite of mine. Through the years I've grown to love Part 3 more and more, but Part 2 is still my favourite!

To be fair, the filmmakers weren't trying to predict what 2015 would be like. They had no interest in trying to predict anything. They just did things they'd like to see in the future even though they were highly unlikely (like flying cars and hoverboards).

Hey Shree, part 3 was the best of them all in the trilogy. I think it’s because it tied the story together so well and not just the obvious story arch, but all the tiny recurring themes as well. The metal plate under the shirt, the manure, meeting his great great grandmother, going to the salon, having the town dance, the sherriff jacking up Biff. What also made the reaction great was the fact that you picked up on so many of the tie-ins to the first movie.

4:53 I should point out, at the time this scene is set, Albert Einstein had already died several months prior, which Doc surely would have known about. 50:23 "Yellow" is short for "yellow-bellied", which is just another way to say, "cowardly". @@ShreeNation on a semi-related note: when preparing for the filming of the scene, the director and producer met with the engineer who would be driving the train. They'd already been reassured, but they wanted to talk to the on-set engineer. They asked the engineer if the train hitting the DeLorean would cause any damage to the train; or if debris from the car might be a safety problem for him. The engineer's response: "Are you kidding? The idea for this film came to be in part because of a conversation that happened during the filming of the first one. During a break in filming, director Robert Zemeckis asked Michael J. Fox when he would go to if he was able to time travel. He said he would go to the Old West and meet cowboys, among other things. That conversation must have been in the back of Zemeckis' mind when the sequels were being written.

13:18 It was _this_ kind of shot, I think, that ultimately taught me an appreciation for historical continuity. Look at the town square of 1885 Hilly Valley and how it _resembles,_ but _differs_ from the two square of _1955_ Hill Valley. Look at how the town square of _that_ _resembles_ yet differs from the town square of _1985_ Hill Valley.

Whoops. Let me clarify. See, when I was in high school, I joined JROTC. Part of that entailed standing weekly uniform inspections, which meant _preparing_ our uniforms for weekly inspections. That meant ironing a _shirt,_ once a week. Now it might not seem like it, but that can be kind of time consuming, so one thing I did was put one of these movies on to play in the background, to watch while I did that. It helped me pass the time. So, regularly, in Part I, I would see downtown Hill Valley in 1985. Then I would see downtown Hill Valley in 1955, with all its similarities, but also its differences. Then, regularly, in Part II, I would see downtown Hill Valley in 2015, then downtown Hill Valley in alternate 1985, and then _again_ in 1955. Each time, it struck me just how similar, but also different, the same area could be. Then, regularly, in Part III, I saw what was unmistakably downtown Hill Valley, just beginning to take shape, in 1885. It was unmistakably, downtown Hill Valley, and yet it was so incredibly different. These recurrent experiences brought me to an appreciation of how the same part of a city can change under different circumstances.

Ah, here we go. People talking about part 2 all the time, but I'd still say 3 is better. Part of the second one was pretty much recycling sets from the first movie, it was done in a clever way, but still the same sets. I would not say it's cause I'm some huge western fan, but this setting just feels to work better. Also, since we technically scaled the stakes back from saving the whole future, we can get more personal now. This movie also has probably my favorite Easter egg too. When Marty first gets ready to back to 1885 he says "Clint Eastwood never wore this". Sounds like simply "haha, Eastwood" joke, but no. He turns to his left and says how Doc hasn't heard of him yet. That's cause in the previous shot you see two posters: one for "Revenge of the Creature" and one for "Tarantula!". Both came out in 1955 and both had Clint Eastwood in minor roles (with "Tarantula!" possibly being his first). Then there's also the part where Marty makes that "bulletproof vest", which taken right out of another Eastwood movie, "A Fistful of Dollars". This was the movie alternate 1985 Biff was watching when Marty walked in on him, with that exact scene playing.

The comment about inferior Japanese products is EXACTLY what someone in the US would have said during the 50s and early 60s. 1955 doc is still alive and not fading out because its his future self that went back in time. If it was his younger self that that went back to 1885 then he would have disappeared when Emit was shot.

If Marty hadn't gone back to 1885, doc would have created a time loop if he didn't drastically make changes. Which he would have. Take the refrigerator he built for example. He would still be born when he was supposed to, he would still invent time travel and he would die in the past.

Hey Shree, been looking forward to wasting time with you on this one! Fun fact, BTF II & III were filmed together. Hence the smooth transition as well as Crispin Glover's absence. Actually it wasn't the post office, they could never be that good in my country 😂 Western Union actually held the letter, since they did telegrams and were known for their persistence in getting a telegram to the user. (of course the US Post Office has their "Neither rain nor sleet blah blah blah). To be fair, the quality of Japanese goods in the 50s and 60s was shitty, so Doc's comment was fair. Of course Japan greatly improved quality, just as South Korea did, and now China is doing. The cowboy costume was used in 40s and 50s and even a little in 60s westerns, but, since then western costumes have more reflected historical reality. Indeed water quality even in the US was questionable as well as questionable throughout most of history. Even in many parts of the world it's still bad. And yep, those were shotgun pellets. Obviously they added effects to the whiskey to make it look unappealing and scare Marty. Yes, that was spit 😂😂🤮 I'm with you, Shree, I would be crucified or hung as a witch if I went to the past, and I want to see the future anyway. I got a crack out of Doc asking "who dressed you like that?!" Yep I am grateful that my refrigerator has a built in ice maker. No blimps, and would take too long to get one anyway, the first airship came out in 1901. Using explosions are how rockets work, but again would probably take too long for Doc to get something rigged. Fun fact about Clara, the actress that played her, Mary Steenburgen, also starred in another time travel romance movie, Time After Time, a movie based on HG Wells novel, with Malcolm McDowell playing HG Wells. Nah, the frisbee was invented in the 1930s, but it did supposedly get its name from Frisbie Pie Company which was around in 1885. Yep Doc was pathetic, even when I was a scrawny 20 something, I could handle a few shots. Hmmm I bet though you would be fun to drink with hehe. You know Hollywood, lol, they love cutting things close. I'd be shocked if Hollywood ever made a movie where they didn't cut it close. Remember in part 2, he walked in on Biff watching a Clint Eastwood movie, where Clint put on a metal plate as body armor, Marty was did the same thing and you were clever to catch that. The train wreck was fucking cool, except there should not have been any explosions, since it was using wood fire to create steam. I did like Doc's realization at the end. Anyway, thanks for another most wonderful waste of time, Shree. I look forward when we watch movies together. Hope all is well, and I thought you got your hair cut. Still looks Fallout-ish 😁Take care and Zach and Zain send their love 😘

Thank you so much for watching, that's quite rare and awesome that both movies were filmed together 😍 And thank God for Western Union! Thank you for explaining, I'd almost forgotten that Biff was watching a Clint Eastwood movie with that scene! This franchise is so well written👏 So glad you enjoyed, sending love and hugs to you three!❤

$80 in 1885 would have been around $2500 today. I really enjoy BttF 3, mainly due to the setting change. There are a few 'clashing western' jokes, as the westerns around 1955 are wildly different than those Marty is familiar with in the 80's, but they fly overhead unless you are familiar with the films of both eras.

Someone might have mentioned, but there were no rhinos or hippos in America, at best they'd have thought it to be a bison/buffalo. But Native Americans have always seen some weird shit (according to their lore) and might have just taken that as yet another weird thing.

BIG FLAW IN THIS MOVIE- CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BECAUSE I THINK I CAUGHT A FLAW--- Doc stores the DeLorean in the abandoned mine in 1885 for Marty to recover it in 1955. Right? Ok. Marty goes back to rescue Doc in 1885, but damages the gas tank badly with no fuel to return to 1985. Right? Ok. Why the whole train adventure? Why didn't Doc and Marty retrieve the gas or tank from the Delorean Doc hid in the mine? Think about it- the parts are there right? There are now 2 Time Machines in 1885. Of course after, the mine car would have been missing the gas tank or simply the fuel In 1955. But Doc could have built a replacement tank and fueled up the Delorean. Am I wrong here? Or did I catch a flaw?

When you store a car, you immediately have to drain the gas or it could cause damages to the engine. Doc would know this, especially because it's being stored for 70 years. That's why 1955 Doc had to refuel it and give it new tires. So there's no fuel in 1885 after Marty gets there.
