UK is a really poor country now with a crust of rich people floating on top. What did you expect? Constant adverts on TV and radio for stuff people cannot afford, resentment builds, and now you are where you are. You could, honestly, make a comparison between this shoplifting problem and a lot of journalists, and politicians, now a days. They have no conscience or humaity anymore. Many british journalists don't care if they are defaming someone's character, especially Prince Harry, so long as they are making money. Politicians are the same. So i guess it's becoming a societal problem. It's such a shame that there are fewer consequences to be found. That's why I love your show. You are honest and witty. You point out hard truths to people and you call out their lies. You promote people to use their consciences. We need more people like you. More channels like this one. Thank you. 😊 👍👍

We have names for them... 'Spam man', 'beef lady', lamb woman... 5) and finally - the violence is on the increase! look at the sorry state of affairs in san fran. not only do they NOT prosecute for thefts under 99.99, but if a shop keeper persists in calling 911 for what are now considered 'petty' thefts, the police are threatening the shopkeepers with charges on the grouns that they are 'wasting' police time. this new attitude to 'crime' is wiping out the small to middle size business in areas of usa, and some larger businesses are refusing to service certain areas. bad state of affairs.

It might be OK for pop musos who are as rich as Roger Daltrey and can attract huge audiences but for those of us who perform on the cultural, traditional circuits, it is no longer financially viable. Of course bands toured in Europe before 1974 but not many and for the non famous bands, the pay and conditions were not great (think of the Beatles accommodations in Hamburg).

US slavery ended over 150 years ago. Five generations have come and gone since then. Most of us are fully supportive of helping the chronically impoverished in our current society, using current means of assistance. But to turn focus back to the Victorian era to try to determine beneficiaries and victims? Absurd. And by the way many families in the south were bankrupt by the end of the war as the confederate government took everyone’s’ savings to finance their campaign. Most families in the south received pardons signed by President Lincoln for having owned slaves and fought on the side of the south. Are those pardons abandoned, rescinded, cancelled?

If you wanted to come in you would have to wait until the shopkeeper opened the door. Where I previously lived I saw tweakers stealing needles from the bins at my local Farm store. When I reported it they said the same thing….they know it’s happening but don’t try to stop it. And farmers need to be able to buy the needles so they have to stock them w/o being under lock & key. James, pls can you have a debate about the colonial history and the artifacts in the museum from the colonies ? If nothing else it helps to know our histories.

Proud to say I regularly may ‘shoplift’. Only from supermarkets/ big chains, wouldnt steal from smaller corner shop types. I think it is a slightly different problem to the one being described, as shoplifting from supermarkets is usually through the use of self service checkouts. Also worked in retail recently and none of the work to keep an eye in shoplifters is really part of the job anymore. Centre security can’t do anything, police can’t/won’t do anything unless it’s a significant amount, and it isn’t in any retail contracts to do any theft prevention.
