An Error Occurred During Export - iMovie How to Fix 2018

So here are couple of ways how to fix imovie error during on iPhone or iPad. So in case an error occured during export on iPhone 6, or iPhone 7 ( Doesn't matter what type of device you have) this should fix imovie export error.

Removing text or music isn’t a fix or solution. It’s a video editor. So I’m supposed to destroy my project to get something to export? No. Very frustrated here

Guys if you have the same problem as me where when you try to preview the video and the screen is black, then add a radon video or picture to your timeline and it worked!!! I’m actually really happy I got my video back cause I worked so hard! Thanks for this video you are a life saver!!!!!!

Just delete any special effects you’ve added, from the video and try exporting. If you have enough storage it should work.

You could also export it to your camera roll and then open the KZbin app and upload it, I have actually stopped trying to go straight from iMovie into KZbin because I was getting way more crashes

Even though I had to remove the audio to get the file to export, I added the successfully exported video (without audio) to a new project and added the audio over that. It exported fine with both video and audio then.

Hey everyone: I know this video sucks, but I was able to fix the issue on my own(with no help from this guy). What worked for me was closing the app on my phone, waiting a minute, and then I tried it again. Worked perfectly. Also, you don't have to ruin your video.

Also guys if you are using 1080p footage and you have some 720p footage and you try to change the pace of the footage like slow motion or fast, a lot of times it will freeze and the fix is to detach the audio and try to export it or detach the audio and delete the audio and try to export it

Hi, I edit my videos on iMovie and I save the video to camera roll but when I press save and it loads it just stops in the middle and it hasn’t changed after I’ve deleted some apps I don’t need and photos I don’t need and I’ve deleted photos from recently deleted as well and I’ve taken all of the songs out of my video it seems not to be working 😬 please get back to me as soon as you can!

Thanks. My issue seemed to be too much audio. I deleted where I had foreground and background and just went with foreground, and that seemed to work.

Took your tip as I had a window that locked up saying “some of the videos are being downloaded from icloud” and I couldn’t get it to finish or free-up, on the iMovie/iPad. No info online or on YT. So I tapped Edit and instead of adding a photo to the project and re-saving (Done button) - well, didn’t have to add anything. Just tap edit, hit Done and the buggy locked alert “some of the videos are being downloaded from iCloud” is gone and free to export/copy to iPad the vid project. Trial and error I guess, but your commentary halfway thru on the Edit button does sort out the buggy lockup. Thx.

I’m using iMovie on an IPhone X, and I could not get one of my movies to export. I couldn’t find any glitch in any of the videos used on the movie. But I remembered that one video, the movie maker had used the lower portion of a video and what I needed was what was filmed in the top section of the screen. So I cropped the size of the video, easy! So I thought maybe that was it. I deleted the video clip from my movie, then went to my photos and reverted the changes (the cropping) of the clip, saved it, then went back into iMovie and added the original version of the clip back into the movie, and it worked. It exported my movie.

A Ramsey instead of tapping things you want before you start editing, select nothing and then press “create movie” after that, it’ll take you to the editing screen and you can add things from there. Hope this helps!

delete your audio and text, keep all of your pictures/videos. save the video with just images and then make a new movie with the saved video and just go in and add audio and text to the new video!
