The cat is a water sprinkler for sprinkling you clothes to iron. I'm sure you can find the info about it on the Internet. Great haul. I have a couple of boxes of family scrapbooks but I would still want to buy the box you have.

I thought it looked like some kind of sprinkler, but all I could think of was holy water and I was. pretty sure a priest wouldn't be using a ceramic siamese cat at a christening🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the explanation.

Tonight before bed I’m going to say GOODNIGHT MARY, I’m thinking about you and thank her for sharing her life with me. I collect books from and about Indiana. I went to a thrift shop not near my home town. North side of the state. I found a book with my grandmother's picture and an essay she wrote when she was twenty years old. Nothing can beat that thrill. She never told anyone she had a story published.

I was touring an old home out of town with my garden club...we were in a large bedroom with ornately carved furniture & there was a beautiful pic of a young girl taken in the garden of that home about 65 years earlier. The guide mentioned that sadly they hadn't been able to identify the girl in the picture.....I told her the girl is in the very next room & she is 82 years old! It was my Aunt & I have the same picture & antique matching frame displayed in my home! What a very SPECIAL memory! ❤

For people with family collections but with no-one to pass them down to, many town have local history societies or genealogical societies with archives. That diary is special... she either enjoyed sports or just enjoyed noting the news headlines of the times! I would love finding something like that to read. I like how she signed goodnight to her entries.👍🏼Thanks for explaining the importance of finding NEW homes for the ephemera and photos, rather than why it can’t be valued by the family of the people. I have inherited furniture from family, that was handed down, lots of it sorely loved... and have been chided for painting it. But, I say, give the old things new life. Use them in a way that brings joy to you and would probably bring joy to the owners in the past life... let the purists of inherited things not spoil your joy in ownership, life is too short for such petty arguments.

Wise words Patricia! While sad that family decides to not keep some items, it's more positive to focus on the fact that there are others that will enjoy and treasure the items instead of them being lost forever to the trash.

I would love to go through that thing ooooing and aaaahing. I live in MO though, so it's going to take me about 3 hours...lol. Did I mention I loved it? I hope you make a bundle. Like one of your subscribers said, it should go to family. The sad truth is sometimes family fizzles out, and those who remain were too distant to really care. Or too young.
