Skincare experts tend to gravitate towards medical-grade skincare products like iS Clinical and SkinMedica because they have the research to back their claims (anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, acne, etc). In this skincare routine, clinical esthetician Carla Cohen shares the medical-grade skincare products she uses to treat melasma and for anti-aging.

Big thank you to Carla!! She is super knowledgeable and I think has a skincare routine similar to a lot of estheticians dealing with hyperpigmentation. I’m really glad all of you got to see it! There’s a chance some of these products would be used on you if you booked a facial. 👍

I appreciate all of the variety of skincare routines that Mixed Makeup shares on YT. I think it's interesting to see how the products and techniques vary by industry and preference. It seems like people are really excited to react to and scoff at this video because of the title dropping the total cost. Thank you, Carla, for sharing this skincare routine, and thank you to Mixed Makeup for providing so much free information on the diverse world of skincare.

I absolutely love IS CLINICAL! I'm an Esthetician as well & have been telling all my clients, friends & family about this skincare line. I'm glad she talked about it since there really aren't that many videos on IS Clinical. * For Vitamin C .. I alternate between the Pro-Heal Serum & Naturium's Vitamin C Super Serum Plus!

Based on her profession, she’s probably has access to these products for free (sent to her complementary) or at a deep discount. As an medical esthetician, she’s getting in house peels and laser treatments too. I’m not a hater. If you have access or money to buy these products, go fit it.

Lol this video was one long IS ad. While growth factors are always expensive, gentle moisturising cleansers are available at the pharmacy /drugstore, and the Inkey List has niacinamide serum for £5.99. Vitamin C, peptides etc are also similarly priced. For 950 I'd expect a new face 🤣

If you have the money to spend go for it- BUT I think these same results are achievable with MUCH more affordable products.
@oliviapopireni3456

No it's not. Especially with people of color. I'm all for affordable skincare, try it all to eliminate my hyperpigmentation by using ingredients such as Alpha Arbutin, Tranexamic Acid, AHA, well you name it. I used to use it from The Ordinary, Inkey list and drugstore brand. I tell you, my hyperpigmentation still going strong 🤣 Trying to save a little money from my monthly paycheck to purchase Lactic Acid (AHA) from Sunday Riley, Retinol from Glow Recipe and Allies of Skin. I will happy to inform you that they are money well spent. I'm seeing result with diminishing of my sunspot on the bridge of my nose. Same ingredients but literally different formulation. Formulation is the key. Don't get me wrong, I still use drugstore cleanser, but for the hardcore ingredients or serum, I will save money first to purchase a higher quality one.
@aw3855
@aw3855 3 жыл бұрын
@@oliviapopireni3456 I agree formulations are key and think serums are a great investment- I spent $120 something on the Good Genes by Sunday Riley myself BUUUUT… I’m not about to spend $50 on a cleanser, $25 on a chapstick, $90 on an eye cream and $85 on a sunscreen. Unless I become filthy rich however, then give me alllll the luxury products. I enjoy videos like this because I like learning about skincare and seeing all different products and product ranges but I used to think oh man if I don’t blow hundreds I won’t see results and over time I came to realize that with a consistent and effective routine (that didn’t break the bank) my skin is doing really well. Until then I’ll stick to using my basic cleansers, moisturizers, chapsticks and eye creams (and do an occasional splurge for serums). Also while I did enjoy Good Genes and it worked well I actually had better luck with a basic BHA and using faded’s topicals on the nights I didn’t use tret. Wishing you luck with your melasma, it’s been slow and steady progress for me but I’m finally seeing some results.

Totally with the person advocating for Sunday Riley BUT Sunday Riley ≠ the brands used in this video. One of the serums in this video cost $295 which is far more than Sunday Riley. I think that's where things face diminishing returns.
@oliviapopireni3456
@oliviapopireni3456 3 жыл бұрын
Hi@@vincentpangelinan2510 the comparison is more likely to the drugstore skincare product for efficacy of the ingredients (in formulation). Showing that higher price skincare formulation giving more result compare to the drugstore one (for example: SR Good Genes VS TO Lactic acid which has same core ingredient: Lactic Acid). It's not always the case with expensive skincare products. But most of them definitely have better texture when it apply to the skin, showing quick result on our skin, etc To afford the item in this video, I have to save 2 or 3 month paycheck, I splurge -but not that kind of splurge. LOL

@@cassieg6961 I think you missed the point from my comment.sunscreens manufactured in the US dont have to be tested for its uvapf. The aesthetician in the video has pigmentation issue, that is driven primarily by UVA rays. There are better sunscreens (mostly european ones) that have the uvapf disclosed by the manufaturers with much much lower price points, which in my opinion are much better for her to splurge her money on. And to give some comparison, eltaMD uv clear only has uvapf of 6 point something. The uv physical (tinted one) has uvapf of 20 something.

not necessarily no? she starts off the video saying she deals with sun damage and hyperpigmentation. like shes using these treatments/products with research behind it to target specific issues she has with her skin. SPF just helps to not incur more sun damage not to reverse it. and the tretinoin she may be using at night since this is a morning routine. she's an aesthetician so she has access to these products as well as in office treatments i'd guess, and if she's able to do those things consistently then shes doing a lot more for her skin than just tretinoin and spf. of course this isn't necessarily accessible to the average person's budget but that's not something that should be judged. The point of this series is to see the routines of different kinds of professionals in the industry

@@BethanySchmidtEsthetics Medical grade skincare actually doesn't mean anything...it's not an FDA regulated or approved label. Even a Derm PA that did a skincare routine on this channel said that. Skincare lines that are called "medical" go the extra mile by backing up their claims with research, but so do many of the large drugstore skincare brands like Neutrogena, for example.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I recommend products it's because I see that you're missing a step in your routine or that this specific product would really help you in achieving the skin goal that you're working toward. I never force, just recommend. most of the time ladies will say no, so I give them a sample to try at home. they use it, end up loving it & come back to make the purchase 🤷🏻‍♀️
