Hi Richard that f stop wrap is fantastic stuff really clever idea, just seeing a Coyote in the wild must so exciting and nervous at the same time, thatCoopers hawk was amazing I can see why you like going there it’s fantastic, some best time to be out is of an evening we was out driving around and spotted a Kestrel hunting managed to stop and get some nice shots, truly a amazing video Richard thank you for sharing it with us. Martyn

Thanks Martyn, they are awesome and lets face it we all love our gear so it's great to protect them the best way possible, my wife purchased them for me for my birthday present so I was a happy man on the big day! I'm getting very fond of that particular Hawk, seems we have a good understanding and it tolerates me being around whilst it hunts, although the adult birds and much more colourful I do love the brown and white especially against a darker background. All the best to you my friend. R👍

Wonderful scenes and those wraps are awesome!!! I especially love the bit of the hawk around 18:24!! That older oak or elm, and the whole scene a bit cool toned... I think Sony has slowly led me towards a slightly cool preference, as they lean a bit that way in general compared to Canon....funny how your day to day experience starts to influence what you gravitate towards... Beautiful video! Have a wonderful weekend
@RichardBirchett7 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it Jon, yeah the Wraps have become very useful especially when traveling overseas for wrapping up tripods, binoculars, trail cameras etc, and my day to day kit. I'm especially fond of that young Hawk and seems to be happy for me to watch it hunt and just do it's thing. All camera companies offer slightly different colour tones etc, all can be changed in post but it's nice to get it right in camera first. You too, until next time. Thanks Rich 👍

Another enjoyable vlog Rich! I 100% hear you about the evenings & mornings being the best time to get out, fewer people around & you obviously have the advantage of the best of the useable light; & as you say the wildlife tends to come alive more at these times too. Some cracking images & video too mate, didn’t notice any wobbly video tbh & far better than if I had tried it handheld for sure! Hopefully you’ll get to see & record the coyotes soon, & I obviously understand rightly so, your cautious approach. All the best mate. Keep on keeping on! Nick

Great variety as always in your videos, Richard. Well done! Those f-stop wraps are a great idea. I haven't seen those before. On the handheld challenge, I have been shooting handheld for years and got along pretty well with it, but I have just started trying something else that I am finding very useful. I bought a long Manfrotto MPMXPROA4 monopod and a Wimberley MH-100 MonoGimbal Head. I still prefer handheld, but depending what and where I am hunting, the monopod has proven to be very valuable. Two days ago I was trying to get shots of a Great Horned Own high in a distant tree with leaves blowing around in front of it. I was using my Sony A1 with the 200-600 in tight and using the in-camera crop mode. Since the leaves were blowing around in front of the bird, I had to use manual focus. Without the ability to balance on the monopod for long periods of time, I would not have been able to get the photos that I did. That said, on the same walk I missed some surprise flyovers that I probably would have captured had I not has my camera slung over my shoulder. Nothing is perfect all the time. Tripod is perfect sometimes, handheld is perfect other times, monopod is sort of half way in between. I am very pleased to have this option and practice with it.
@RichardBirchett7 ай бұрын
Hey Phil, Thanks so much, great to hear you like watching them. The wraps are so cool and are so useful to use, especially when traveling abroad or on short trips. I love my Monopod which sadly I left at home and I haven't quite got enough to get one but I aim to as they are a great tool and a good mid point as you've said. For situations like that and shooting manual when the AF has problems it's essential otherwise you'd be without a chance of getting a sharp shot. Yeah, it's a trade off and you have to be quick to react to the changing situations, still you can't get them all. Cheers R👍

Hi Richard, have you considered using a monopod with Wimberly MH100 head. Its not as steady as a tripod, but it does give you a more stable platform then hand held. Just a thought. I have been using one for some time and find it very stable and comfortable to carry my long lenses while walking.
@RichardBirchett7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Mark, I’ve got a monopod but left it in the UK sadly and haven’t managed to get around to buying another, I do miss it as they are very handy. Good reminder as I need to get one ASAP. Cheers R 👍
