Millennials reject or deny American Exceptionalism for two reasons: 1. Government schools have indoctrinated them into believing America is the biggest problem in the world. 2. They haven't witnessed (or learned about) American Exceptionalism. American Exceptionalism can only flourish when government gets out of the way. Burdensome government regulation and taxation supress American Exceptionalism. The welfare state also supresses American Exceptionalism. Hoover and Millennials advocate for big government so both may never get the opportunity to experience American Exceptionalism.

I think you need to get re-educated. You do realize we are near the bottom for education. Have the highest level of income disparity. Our government is lobbied to de-regulate companies who pollute and in some cases poison our citizens. The only thing that we can say that we are "exceptional" in is the might of our military. However that is also our downfall. We spend so much money on our military that we dont spend in things that help our society.

I haven't read her book but, in this speech, Hoover advocates for big government. Our nation was founded on the principles of individual liberty and limited government. The purpose of government is to protect our liberties, not to engineer a "great" society. The millennials reject this political philosophy to their peril.
