Bend tube as needed than braze a washer on the tube. Then your tube holder can hold it in place.

Commutator explosion, it would only take one of the contact strips to break free or a crack in the support. Take pictures and send to company. You can take your old starter and give it a clean up, new brushbox and brushes, clean the commutators and lube the bearings. Most starters just wear down the carbon brushes and the connection becomes bad, so weak starter. If the bearings are loose, drift out the ones from the dead starter.

Hi Bill solder a ring of 2mm copper wire to the pipe where you need it the retainer will hold the pipe down

Can you weld a washer to the oil tube?... For $200. I would send the starter back,at lest the bag of part and a photo.

If it was me, I would make the line and then get a small flat washer and drill it out to the tubing size and then use a propane torch to solder it in place. You CAN solder steel to copper.

Those aftermarket starters and generators don't seem too good. My 2n came with a new gen. Didn't charge, a brush wire was rubbed through inside. I even tried splicing it back together. Still wouldn't charge, think it shorted the windings too. The materials and quality control are an obvious problem with these.

May have seized up the torque the sudden stop is what shattered the parts. Dominoe effect. They need to go back to making stuff to work n last not out sourcing for cheap so things like this won’t happen

Instead of trying to crimp the tube, slide a washer over it and braze/solder it in place.

All the commutators are gone so most likely is an epoxy failure at the least

should have could have but starter drives have been known to fail while engaged. the pictures look like it was just thrown apart by centrifugal force. either way wouldn't trust that starter drive. good vids Dave

From what I can see, it appears that the armature exploded. There's nothing there for the brushes to ride on anymore.

I would send where you bought it from a email explaining that it was a bad starter and it grenaded and you would like a refund on it .

bill your too easy. most of these mail orders will ask for pictures and send another one nocharge i know rock auto does but for two hundred dollar's i be on the phone , key board or some way to get another one. also now the time to see just how well Stiner treats their costumers its not like you only bought one five dollar part you spent a lot there
