In the women’s competition, it’s Cindy Chavez, a pastry baker from North Whittier, California vs. Tiziana Sorge, a photojournalist from Rome, Italy. In the men’s round, it’s Anthony Daniels, an actor from Pasadena, California against, Dylan Bruno, an environmental engineer from Milford, Connecticut.

Pyramid: Contenders have 45 seconds to reach the top of a pyramid, with two Gladiators blocking their path.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
Hang Tough: The Gladiator and contender swing across hanging gymnastics rings, with the contender trying to make it to the opposite platform without the Gladiator forcing them off.
Assault: The contender must attempt to hit a target while a Gladiator shoots at them using a tennis ball cannon.
Snapback: Contenders and Gladiators are attached to bungee cords, with an aim to grab scoring cylinders from the center of the field and bring them back to their own bins.
Whiplash: The contender and Gladiator each hold one end of a double triangle apparatus, known as the “dog bone”. They must each attempt to have the other either let go of the “dog bone”, or exit the ring.
Powerball: Contenders try to score points by depositing balls into baskets and avoid being tackled by three Gladiators.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition.

Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

Dylan Bruno was in Numb3rs. I have no idea why I remembered that. Counted at least 3 questionable takedowns in Powerball by Turbo. I'd reset the "episodes since the last dirty hit by Turbo" board but it was at 0 anyway.

Yeah, he was the biggest piece of shit of all the gladiators. Nitro definitely had his moments but for Turbo even once the events were over and adrenaline subsided he still just looked like a cold, uncomfortable person with an unshakeable resentment toward the contenders. Zero camaraderie or sportsmanship.

The fact there was no replacement for Nitro and Zap(when the hell does Dallas turn up!?) no new events and they shortened the season as well as half the season being specials gave the vibe of the last season and people knew it

Seems as though the Gladiators really didn’t like Snapback, almost as much as they hated Human Cannonball. Though, compared to the 2008 Version, this classic version was a lot simpler, easier, & liked than being physically pulled back from a Gladiator.

Bodies have been broken, necks broken, concussions inflicted, and careers ended in an instant. Although it is entertainment, the hazards are real, and the contestants and gladiators take real risks, endure unimaginable pain, and put their bodies, their careers, and their lives on the line. Damn, Season 7 really sucked. Fewer Gladiators (I'm guessing the reason they didn't replace Zap or Nitro was because they knew this would be the last season), fewer variety of events, lower quality of some contenders (wasn't there one match here or season 6 where neither contender had double digit point totals going into the Eliminator?). And the actual competition portion of the show was shortened. There were several gimmick episodes (one an alumni competition between Zap and Dallas) Plus Gladiator Arena looked like a copy of the British Gladiators setup. And dammit Nitro and Mike Adamle .... yeah the show was on it's way off the air; but couldn't you at least get tailored suits!
