I'm so glad I'm not the only "getting up there in age" fan here! I'm almost 50. My daughter showed me this channel a couple of years ago, knowing that I share his alternative aesthetic and have struggled with my mental demons. I immediately found him relatable and funny, with a sadness that felt so familiar. I was an instant fan, and the mom in me wanted to give him a big hug and cheer him on. In so many ways, I've been there and made it through, yet I still have days when I struggle. It's part of being human.

I too am up there in age (almost 60) and have been watching him for a few years now. I wish him the best in life.
@THEgothicqueen18827 ай бұрын
@Peoplecanhaveopinions Personally, I think the best advice that I can pass along is to truly enjoy the little things. After you hit 21 or so, life seems to start speeding up. Don't be in a hurry to find your perfect partner or have a family. If you are in college and have a dream or passion, don't let people lead you astray. Have as much fun and adventure as you can, but learn to prepare for the future, especially with finances. It's OK to have a credit card, but don't make purchases you can afford to immediately pay off (except for maybe an emergency). You will inevitably end up in debt for the next 20 years if you let credit cards take over. We don't truly know who we are or fully grasp our roles in life until we are around 30ish. You WILL make mistakes, but it is important to learn from them, as they will teach you more than you think as you get older/wiser. A wise woman once told me to keep a journal and write in it daily. Write down the mundane things of your day, feelings, dreams (both actual sleeping dreams and one's you aspire to achieve). Write down things you like and don't like in a relationship (these things may change over the years) but also take note of things you would call a deal breaker. Write down your perception of your own worth (which also may change over the years) but always have that reference to look back on when you find yourself torn or confused. You will learn that your own perception of your worth is directly related to the way you allow others to treat you, as well as the way you treat others. Write down your traumas/traumatic memories because our brains are wired to protect us from remembering 100% of the details we experience in traumatic situations. Just because you may not remember everything, doesn't mean it isn't all there, being suppressed inside your subconsciousness. This can lead to a lot of pain in life... So write it down the best you can and don't hesitate to seek help and speak up, when the time comes. I've not only been there, myself, but I've lost a lot of loved ones who chose to avoid speaking up and getting help. Another thing I learned the hard way is that you do not have the ability to truly love someone or give them your full, authentic self if you can't accept and truly love yourself. Embrace your quirks that some people call "weird". I personally think that being called weird is a compliment. Learn to stand your ground in your beliefs and opinions, but be open-minded enough to show respect towards those who think differently. And never, I mean never, be too proud to ask for help. I know this was a lot of information, and some of it sounds cliche, but it is what I wish someone had told me when I was 18. And if you'd like me to elaborate on anything I said, please let me know. I wish you the best of luck and lots of happiness on life's journey.

They either treat him like a literal child, a character or an object. I really hope people realize he's his own person with emotions, struggles and a life. Johnnie has helped me so much to entertain me and also just be a comfort for when I feel down. As a teen, I'm really starting to go through it. Becoming insecure, feeling like you're not good enough, hating things about yourself, etc. Just having people like Johnnie on this platform makes me feel so greatful and I hope he understands how amazing he is and that he doesn't have to try and hold himself up to that standard. People just need to stop expecting every content creator to be exactly what they seem like on screen and to understand that just because people upload themselves on the internet, it doesn't mean that they intend on being criticized by others, especially ones who claim to dare to call themselves fans. Seriously, thank you for what you do Johnnie and please remember that you still have fans who will always support you.

I heard that the first time when I was admitted to the mental health hospital. I had tried to end my existence due to some terrible things done to me by my ex. Those 6 small words were powerful. I remember crying for the first time in years, I felt something other than hopeless and numb for the first time. I yelled,I sobbed I cussed and I let it all go. I realized that no I wasn't okay but I was going to be. My ex is now in federal prison for 25 years until he is up for parole. Everyone I've talked to thinks if he makes it that long parole will be denied. I can't say the things he did on youtube, but his sentence should give a bit of an insight to how serious it was.

Johnnie, I’d highly recommend, if you’re able to, hire an assistant to manage your social media when you need to take mental health breaks. This way, you do not feel guilty for lack of content and you can focus on improving your overall health when necessary. You can be transparent and let people know it’s pre-recorded content or it’s your assistant who will be reaching out to others for the time being. You don’t have to bare the burden of social media bs so often.. it truly takes a toll on the psyche.. so..just a thought!

My home address used to be Depression. Now I live at Anxiety and only vacation in Depression. It’s not easy to live with, but as you grow, you’ll find ways of coping. I’m proud of you, Johnnie, for finding the positives in your life. Especially when you’re feeling like you’re stuck in the negatives. The best thing I learned in therapy was to make a running list (on paper, on your phone, or even just in your head) of all of the little things that happen each day that make you smile or that you’re grateful or thankful for. No repeats Not big things like “I have a roof over my head” or “I have a job that pays me enough to survive” Little things that happen during the day like: -I wrote a song that I really like. -I ate my favorite food today -someone told me a joke that made me laugh -I woke up in a good mood and it lasted for 5 whole minutes -my hair felt really soft today Looking for these little things will retrain your brain to actively seek the good things in life instead of dwelling on the bad things. It won’t happen overnight, and could take months of work before you start to notice a change. It WILL happen, but you have to keep doing it. 5 good things each day. Just five. You can do it. You can escape the deep pit of sadness. It’s not easy, but it is possible. 🖤🖤🖤 Now if anyone has tips for stopping anxiety, let me know! I’m still struggling with that one 😅

To forget that someone who puts out content is a living breathing human with emotions baffles me. Johnnie, I have lived this exact life for 50 years, and I can honestly tell you that you will ALWAYS wear your heart on your sleeve. But, you will learn to numb out the negative shit, and you won't lose yourself in the process. Instead of allowing stupid people to get to you, turn it into a positive. When they watch your videos and leave a comment, welcome it. Jokes on them. You're the one getting the KZbin credit for views. Also, this time, we are the ones letting YOU know that YOU'RE not alone. We love and support your every move. ❤

Nice! I’m an older viewer as well. It hurts to see Johnnie like this. I hope he comes out back with vengeance! I’m rooting for him! I’m bipolar-2 so I’m totally relating to depression. But,been sober as a judge many yrs. I know drink,illicit substances are bad af for depression.Along w or without meds!

@@tiffanyroseangeles34 I have depression and severe anxiety disorder. Always have, even as a child. But one does pick up a few coping skills as we live on. It's kinda funny to me how I felt as if the world was ending for me and now that I'm in such bad health and the ending is getting closer and closer, I just want to live. 😂 If only I knew then what I know now....

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" is a life motto i wished were preached alot more. Im so sorry you have to deal with shit like this Johnnie 💔 every side of yourself that you show us is precious. The funny, the creative or the vulnerable. It's all precious! Anyone who say different need to take a hard look in the mirror, and also get a freaking life.

JOHNNIE WHAT HAPPENED NOO edit: johnnie I am so sorry for what you are going through. I promise you it will be ok and everyone is supporting you all the way through it. I know it feels like it never ends and that you are just stuck and frozen in time, it sucks and I’m so sorry you are going through this. :( I’m so happy that you are comfortable to open up to us. I understand the feeling of just dwelling in those thoughts and depression even when you want to get better sometimes you just can’t motivate yourself to get up and think about something else. we all love and support you Johnnie! 💕

As someone with Major Depressive Disorder it can feel extremely validating to hear someone you think highly of going through the same problems as you, it helps remind you your not alone. I also have ADHD, so I tend to be high energy and I tend to get loud without really realizing it. I understand looking back at your past actions that felt funny at the moment and just seeing someone who's annoying and unfunny. I'm just glad I'm not the only one 😭 Johnnie we love you and support you

Everything you said about mental health, growth,forgiving yourself, beating yourself up...SAME.... just like.. all of it SAME and I bet more than 50% of the people here feel like this at least some time I'm sure. I'm so glad you are responsible and strong enough to know to NOT LET IT WIN. DON'T LET THE MAN KEEP YOU DOWN!!! 😂😂 You're a good man Charlie Brown!

I’m 37 with anxiety and depression also. I’m a mom to an almost five year old boy. I’m not a great mother, and my mental illness has definitely gotten in the way of me being a good one, but my son watches you when I watch you. He’s come to love you and enjoy watching you. I hope that when he’s older, if he struggles, he’s able to talk about it, like you. There’s nothing worse than keeping it all to yourself. Thank you for being a good person for my son to look up to. Even though five year olds may not be your target audience 😂❤
