Hey! I bought a lowfree flow one month ago after watching your video (and some others) and it just came in yesterday. It's cool to see that some of the things you criticized, like that bump in the back, are now fixed. I'm really enjoying the keyboard. Love your videos! Keep it up.

1:28 "If you already have a keyboard that you like, how about you don't buy any new keyboard at all, and instead make use of the one that you currently have" Thank you for saying this! I have been trying to convince friends that are not rich not to throw money away for no reason on products they already have for a long time, and they look at me like I am crazy.

I'd half-defend this a little by saying that this is a normal thing in any hobby. Some people just like to keep combining new parts simply because they're interested, which is not inherently a harmful thing if you don't resort to stealing. Hobbies are never about what you need, but what you want. Mechanical keyboards encompass a few disciplines like embedded systems, mechanics, product design, etc. so there are a lot of room for experimentation.

Oh Hell yeah, Liva upload. New camera looks good. I genuinely appreciate that you are selective and thorough as you are with your keyboard reviews. It really is a breath of fresh air in this community, even though keyboard content isn't your primary topic of interest.

The keycaps are made with an old cherry clone mold- you can tell because the kerning on the shift keys is weird ("shif t"). It's a minor thing, but most reputable keyboards in this price range have solved this already. The other keyboard you showed with the same legends has the correct kerning.

Nice. I recently got V1 Max and installed my preferred Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow switches from my older K2 V2. Originally I ordered with Gateron Jupiter Banana switches which I didn't like, think I am more in to linear. Now I have ordered TTC Frozen Silent V2 switches, which should arrive in a weeks time, and am hoping it will make my keyboard much more silent and enjoyable, not just for typing but also for gaming. As per mods I did the following: 1. Removed the original foam from the board and instead used 4mm Practik Base for vibration/sound dampening (orange) and 5mm STP Biplast sound insulator (black). Both are used in automotive and sound industries. 2. Added Poron switch pads 0.5mm on top of PET sheet 3. Tape mod with 2 layers 4. Added Poron 0.5mm pads under stabs and the stems, and re-lubricated the stabs as well (was thinking of changing them to Durock V2, like I did on my K2 V2, but these stocks look good) 5. Added O-rings between the bottom and the top case where screws go in. 6. Changed to Cherry PBT Double-Shot Dark Blue/Black keycaps set (usually comed with Xinmeng A66 keyboards) I'll have a Reddit post later on the mod, but for now you can see what I did with my K2 v2 here (www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1com73o/comment/l3gz8f2/?context=3). I am very much satisfied.

If you want smooth linear (for now) switches at an affordable price I’d recommend you try out something from HMX as they are regarded to be among the best when it comes to factory lubing. They also have very tight manufacturing tolerances which results in them having very little stem wobble. Most HMX switches lean toward a brighter or more “clacky” sound profile, so if you care about that and are after something deeper or more “thocky” sounding then they might not be for you. Though I’d still say they’re worth giving a try given that they’re relatively inexpensive.

Also from Keychron there is the Q60 MAX which might be interesting. It has the HHKB layout, some of their new gateron switches and also comes with the same 2.4 GHz capabilities as this, although it is still quite heavy at 1.5 kg.

Very nice and honest review! I got mine today and it's quite nice. I do prefer heavy AL keyboards and the 75% layout. My knob isn't that loose at all and I don't have any dents or anything. I got mine through the kickstarter. Mine came with the yellow and while they were quite smooth they were a little light for me so I'm swapping them for Baby Kangaroos which are definitely louder / poppy. Originally planned to put GMK Striker on mine but the keycaps are quite nice and I like the extras that were included so will stick with them for a while. I know you don't normally do keyboard reviews but really fantastic job on this one!

seeing a sponsorship from an english company entirely in japanese would be honestly pretty cool to see keychron is also known for making pretty decent products (esp. for beginners) in the enthusiast scene so it's not surprising that the box was heavy LOL also, i feel like you'd definitely love switches that are super tactile, idk specifics tho

i recently bought my first mechanical keyboard not too long ago and ive had it for about 2 or three weeks now. Its called the Epomaker x Aula F75 keyboard, and it basically has the same layout that you edited onto the keychron. I got curious after watching your keyboard video a year ago, and its been in the back of my mind ssince. though, I probably wont really get into keyboards that much cause honestly, i dont really see a reason to get more than one. i might look into fun custom keycaps, the ones peopl turn into cats and such. it just seems really fun :) anyways, good video as always!

12:09 In terms of practicality.. which one do you mean? Carrying around? Yeah. Typing? The more keys on a board, the easier it is for hands to find positions with exploded design.
@Livakivi
@Livakivi 4 ай бұрын
From my perspective, more keys doesn't always mean its easier or more practical. For example, the HHKB doesn't even have arrow keys, yet most of the time, when navigating through letters or words in text, its much easier to use the FN + [;'/ arrow key cluster on the HHKB than to move your hand off the home row to the arrow key cluster, and then back to the home row just to press an arrow key once. The same goes for Fn + Number keys being F keys etc, because its all within reach without having to excessively move your hand, once you get used to it.

Seems like you already found as close to your perfect as you can get with your hhkb. It's one of those boards that if it works for you then it really works. I've known a few people who have custom keyboards but when it comes down to it always choose their hhkb. But it's also great that companies like keychron are taking notes from the enthusiast circles and giving people more value for their money. Even if the custom keyboards hobby shrinks back down to its niche pre-covid status companies like keychron have already shown that people want more for their money than plastic cases with rattly stabilizers. At the end of the day having more options is usually a good thing.

@Livakivi
@Livakivi 17 күн бұрын
I feel like the best solution would be a keyboard that suits for both gaming as well as typing. There are too many factors to say which one is the best, as at the end of the day its subjective. I feel like the most important aspect is the layout and form factor. I personally prefer a compact 65%, or the HHKB layout, which you can learn more about in my latest video about the HHKB, and also for the reasons I brought up at 14:15. I feel like having a compact keyboard has benefits as described at 11:35, and it also gives you more space for your mouse, as well as to adjust the keyboard to whatever angle feels most comfortable. In terms of switches, anything can be fine, but personally, esp. for gaming, I prefer lighter switcher. I also like Topre a lot, which can be used for gaming as well, but in some cases light linears can be preferable, though I know people breaking world records in Counter-Strike kz using Topre switches as well.

If you want smooth MX switches you're probably gonna have to hand lube them which takes a lot of time and is pretty delicate, factory lubed switches stop being as smooth after around a week of daily use in my experience, though I've noticed tactile switches tend to not really be as bad as linears when it comes to scratchiness

I am glad the market is being inflated with loads of new products because it is driving prices down to the point people can afford the hobby. also it means that companies need to work harder to get your dollars. scratch is something that is weirdly sought after in cherry switches(the brand not the switch style). that I'm sure keychron is trying to emulate. to say it is a contentious issue would be putting it mildly. it does indeed get much smoother though and that's the way the industry is headed even if the fan boys covet their vintage cherry blacks.
@Livakivi
@Livakivi 4 ай бұрын
I've never heard anyone say that the scratchiness of the original Cherry MX switches is sought after lol, I remember that being the main reason everyone was abandoning genuine Cherry switches for the clones that started appearing once their patent expired. If people search for scratchiness then some old Black Alps switches would be a goldmine. Vintage blacks are a special case in the sense that they supposedly were made out of a different, more expensive material that made them smoother, though others argue that perhaps its just wear and tear over the years.

Do you think the modern Realforce keyboards are as good as your HHKB? I am interested in Topre but cannot live without real arrow keys or a Function row
@Livakivi
@Livakivi 4 ай бұрын
Its hard to tell, I briefly tried a few Topre Realforces in a store and the domes didn't feel as tactile as my HHKB. Not sure if its because the domes of my old HHKB might have stiffened and therefore gotten more tactile, or if all HHKBs are like that. I'm not sure if they were the 45g ones or the variable ones in the Realforce as I forgot to check, but the 55g dome version might be even more tactile, and you can always get BKE domes that can be used even on "fake" topre keyboards to make them feel more tactile. The HHKB uses plate mounting though, making the overall feel still slightly different, but it depends from person to person at the end of the day.
