Sounds like there are so many places to choose from. I had no idea there were so many favelas in Colombia, I always thought it was more in Brazil. Love Colombian coffee - Would love to visit some of those coffee farms. Thanks for sharing

I have been to Colombia 5 times in recent years so I know exactly what you mean about being aware and alert. However, in Bogota (except for the downtown area) once you get to the Zona Rosa/Zona T, Usaquen or further north I had no problems at all walking around at night by myself which I did every night I was in town. I never felt scared, worried or aprehensive. I did not stay downtown after dark. I only traveled to Medellin once (I stayed in one of the safest areas) and I recall my guide telling me do not go to the city center at night (near the Botero Museum). Cartagena was awesome. Again, I never felt uneasy or worried staying whether in Boca Grande or in the colonial city. But one will get harassed by vendors and my last time was during Covid and there were a lot of real (and fake) tour guides trying to get clients. Late at night people will also get harassed by the working girls.
