oh wow! I was so choked up when you flashed the pic of the patriot wearing the Novo around his neck. To think of what all our early ancestor/settlers endured to free this country from British tyranny! this story is worth so much more than its weight in gold. My eyes were welling up with such emotion...very humbling. Excellent vid Stef. This is what it's all about... we remember and honor their sacrifices.

Thank you so much! The Nova Constellatio full length video is one of the pieces I am the proudest of - and it’s nice when someone appreciates that part, especially, because it took a long time to edit but I knew I had to do it justice. The true patriotic treasure is always a huge honor to find!

Thank you! Actually, it depends on the age. Victorian to Edwardian cufflinks and later follow that size differential, but colonial cufflinks were the same size for both halves. Dying to find a complete set!

I don't know how I managed to forget all these amazing finds so I'm so glad you put this video together - thank you! I was positive I was going to say the rattlesnake button was my favorite but then you had to include the Nova Constellatio - absolutely stunning!!!
@StefDigs

Thank you! The Nova took the number one spot for 2 reasons, even though the rattlesnake button was the rarest sought-after find: 1) the condition is stunning, and 2) it landed on the cover of American Digger magazine, an honor I may never have again. Was very tough to choose the top 11 but I always enjoy putting this together each year!

A Great Look Back Here, Steff!! You had me nearly crying "happy tears" with you, at some points! On the other hand, you had me TOTALLY LMBO, at your "small fiddle" gesture!! 😆😆😆 I must've heard that old saying, hundreds of times, in my life, but you made it look and sound EXTRA HILLARIOUS, here!! LOL!!! 😅😅😅 I've gotta tell ya, that watching this video of yours; has gotten me to feeling that if I can't SOON afford to get me a Metal Detector, & get out, and do some hunting with it, I am going to GO TOTALLY BONKERS!!! LOL!!! If nothing else, then just maybe; after I finally have my knee replacement surgery @ the end of this month, I'll be able to do at least, SOME KIND OF WORK, & begin earning myself a living, once again!! Take Care! & I'll be anxiously awaiting your next episode!! Ron Abilene, TX.

Let's hope for the minimum, or somewhere in between, at the most!! 🙂 Ron

Thank you! To be honest, if I had to choose only one find I could keep from the last year, it may have been that. I handle it the most often of all of my coins, and it’s in AU condition. The Nova was more “expected” than a Seated Half! Tried to put the finds in order of rarity and historical importance, though.

Your reaction to the seated half was kind of similar to me when I found my capped half lol. You were fairly calm when you found the capped half dime. Guess that's why we detect, you never know what the next signal could be. It's nothing great 99% of the time but when it is it's a rush.
@StefDigs
@StefDigs 4 ай бұрын
@@stephencurry599 got that right! 😂 For some reason, a Seated half dollar didn’t cross my mind - it was a total surprise! I could see the Capped was a half dime-sized coin, so I already knew I was in for something special. 😊

Silver is very malleable and easy to restore. I use wooden dowl rods to reform silver objects such as thimbles. But, if you are wary, take it to a jeweler to restore. Though it does like fine as is.
@StefDigs
@StefDigs Жыл бұрын
I cleaned it up already. It’s actually not very easy to restore when there’s 200+ year-old iron stuck to it, lol. I had to do several rounds of boiling vinegar and baking soda, then I used toothpicks. Took many hours.

The lead large cent could also be a poker chip, I've found them with reverse words where a large cent was stamped into them in civil war camps
@StefDigs
@StefDigs Жыл бұрын
I’d thought of that at first, but the letters and bust all face the correct direction and are raised, versus having a coin impression like a poker chip. I don’t think we’ll ever know for certain what someone was doing with that piece.
