The Billboard Music Awards was NOT a live Award show, it was pre-recorded in Korea, with only fanclub STAY in the audience. That's why the camerawork is so good in this performance, because it was not award show standard, but JYPe/Div1 controlled, and obviously carefully scripted. It was much more obvious in one of the girl group stages (New Jeans, I think), where they had a full outfit/stage change and fancy FX when swapping from one song to the other...If you look carefully at thé few crowd shots, you can see there's no one on the sides and they never show the back, there's only one square of standing people in front of the stage, period...

Surfin' and Gone Away are 2 of the 3 unit songs along with the (in)famous Red Lights. There's a whole series dedicated to the making of these songs, from discussing the songs topics to planning and then shooting the MVs. It's called "Song Camp: Howl in Harmony". Episode 5 is dedicated to the MV filming of all 3 units, of you're interested, but I really recommend the full series to see their thought and composition process.

It took me a bit to watch this; but as with anything SKZ, What a journey!! I've really been enjoying your extra-long videos and I can't emphasize enough YES!! Go see them live and then report back! They're SO good! I'm $120 into saving towards their next US tour haha I am READY! (though I pray it's later this year so I can save more). But having seen them last March for the Maniac Encore like... it barely whetted my appetite. I absolutely am going to see them again. You should too!

The bbmas were virtual and their performance was prerecorded as if they were on a stage. Skz recorded in Korea. Not sure if they were just given a budget or if billboard did anything towards film crew or creative at all. The audience was entirely stay.
