I think they should have done this a long time ago. I have 157 real carts to play on this thing. The price is a little steep but I'll scrape up the money. It should look great on hdmi. Still have all my controllers so that isn't an issue for me.

These same games were released on the steam atari vault, a 50's console. console flashback, several handhelds, PS4, Xbox : Atari Valve 1,2,3 CD. and now this. I'm not talking about arcades and the old clonsole 2600. 8-bit games still have something to this day, and I like it, but I keep paying the same thing over and over... but probably only for true retro fans. It is a fact that this console looks probably the best. I would like to see new 8-bit games on this console, as memory is no longer an issue these days. If I look at the C64 communities, games are still being released there.

Something I don't like about alot of mini consoles is how they're emulation boxes and you can only play the games loaded on the console..and of all the companies that gave consumers what they want was Atari, a genuine console that can play original games , and no emulation bs

Keeping the old style graphics, but newer RPG mechanics, something like an old school final fantasy maybe, or something similar to an old Mario, Zelda, sonic, etc. Don’t rip them off, but use it as inspiration for something new and better, keeping the retro feel.

Tbf the 2600 still has a strong homebrew/3rd party game development scene. It'd be a good chance for Atari to reach out to these communities and get their games put on real physical cartridges. I know some already are, but not all. Maybe even commission them to make more new games, mainly for the 7800 cartridges since it can run games more playable by modern standards. The Evercade has already had great success with a similar approach.

Not many games on the cartridges. Pretty much only worth it if you have original cartridges which not many people do, and you can't really buy new ones. So not many people could get use out of this unless a hacker group make some kind of cartridge with USB compatibility (which is probably what Atari are hoping for in order to actually sell these consoles). Honestly Atari should make some kind of new retro-modern console capable of playing maybe Nintendo Switch level of games at least, and have it inspire some Synthwave/Vaporwave inspired titles, like Space Invaders remade into some neony artistic thing.

Snes was my time. Brother I have my original Atari 2600 still Original 6xer as they call it made in Sunnyvale California so I know all about Atari lol. When you have the OG model that was only made in California for the first 6 months you are old and a fan. I play my Atari 2600 more than any console that's hooked up to the TV these days and my Gameboy gets my portable love with DS not far behind. I know the gaming companies and I know who came first. Fact is Nintendo worldwide today is a bigger brand and Nintendo world wide for the past 30 years has been. It's not about who came first. It's just fact of life. If i had choice these days I would pick Atari 2600 over the Nintendo NES but Super Nintendo still my all time favorite console and the PS1 up there as well.

What now will happen to the ATGames ATARI 2600 consoles that have been made for the last 20 years(2004) last one was made last year, the Atari50 Gold Edition(2022)(I have that) now this is been made, is it the end for them, cause there be no point to them now the Atari 2600+ is coming and another ATGames Console coming out next year would be silly, is that ended like how ATGames Mega Drives did, I hope now a full sized ATARI 800 XL or a Colecovison will get created next by Plaion(Koch Media), well they did make THEC64 , THEA500 and the Capcom Home Arcade , thats probably why they changed there name, most of the stuff they make now you play on, I am going to have a `play on` the Capcom Home Arcade later... :) and the Atari 2600 Plus was made by Ben Jones properly because he made all the others, the UK part of Plaion, they were all designed in the UK ... :) We now need a different console from Atari, 20 years of the same console is a long time, 11 Atari 2600 Flashback consoles in 20 years were made, this now makes 12th Atari 2600 console.

Well I'm a big fan of the homebrew scene so I like although I'm using my original Atari still. Not many people know about the homebrew scene but many of the games are amazing. Plus they sell a save key now for these games that save high scores, plus the Atari Vox which plays voices of the old arcade games, and the twin turbo arcade sticks. Champ Games has made amazing homebrew arcade ports of Galaga, Mappy, Gorf, Robotron and the list goes on, Lady bug is another. That's where it's at for me. I play the homebrew games and go for the high scores every week. If you're not aware or into that scene then I understand where you're coming from and respect that but for me the homebrew scene for Atari 2600 is amazing. I play my Atari now more than majority of my consoles maybe outside Super NT and Analogue Pocket.
