thats actually a great idea imho hahaha in Australia when we have bushfires, flooding etc etc. the power obviously is usually out, so growing up we would ALWAYS have a radio & flash light in the draw just in case the power did go out! matches also. so its not that bad of an idea hahah bit bright tho lmao

That really is how public restrooms are in China. You just squat over the floor toilet. And yes, it is 'everywhere' in China. Only your hotel bathroom would be like Westerners are used to. Oh, and the reason there isn't rolls of toilet paper n public restrooms is because people will steal them. So, understandably that's why they don't put rolls of toilet paper in public restrooms. So, you need to carry your own toilet paper with you.

You are right and wrong. Beijing is like any modern city, but I went to my Chinese wife’s hometown Dejou about 300 south of Beijing, and I had the same experience as Carl. Worse in fact. I was eating some food in a restaurant which a friend of my wife ran. I asked about the toilet and they said just go through the back of the restaurant. I did and as soon as I was outside the most overpowering smell of ammonia made my eyes hurt. In front of me was a huge pile of steaming human excrement surrounded by a kinda concrete bus stop!

Regarding the Great Wall I've heard that not as many tourists have been allowed to go there like before, because it's started deteriorating from so many people walking on it. As is obvious in this video. I mean think about it, it's nearly 3000 years old. It's not going to withstand too much wear and tear over time.

@21:45 I was about to add that Chinese people (but all Asian peoples in general, really) are significantly shorter on average than Westerners, rather than it being because Karl is tall. However, I looked up his height out of curiosity and he’s actually a bit taller than I thought at 6’1”. I thought he was around 5’11”. So it’s a bit of both, lol.
@TysheenOrane3 жыл бұрын

I love the Ricky Gervais Show is all it’s versions: the XFM show, the Podcast or the HBO show. But I never liked An Idiot Abroad, because it’s just too mean. It’s no longer funny any more when Karl is in genuine anguish.
@FarewellFix2 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand this? If you’ve been through the journey as you state, you’d know Ricky and Karl are best mates. Ricky pushes him, yeah with some rough situations, but at the end of the day, Karl decides what he does or doesn’t do. If anything, An Idiot Abroad closes it all up showing that he’s not an idiot. My buddies and I would always laugh at their misery, as long as they’re ok in the end, that’s what matters. I would suggest giving it another shot with a different view. Karl has one of the most powerful people in Ricky on speed dial as a good friend. It’s all love in the end.
