An Idiots Guide to Firing Hellfires with George | DCS World

There is probably a much better way to do this but it's early days and I thought I'd pass on some tips that have really helped me get to grips with flying with the George AI and using the Hellfires, I hope they help you guys if you're struggling.

What is DCS?
Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) is a free-to-play digital battlefield game, focusing on simulation of military aircraft. It includes the FREE Su-25T and TF-51D aircraft and it is extensible through additional DCS modules as well as user-made add-ons and mods. DCS World includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region that encompasses much of Georgia - the location of the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008. Is it possible to tell George/Petrovich to prioritize targets? Sometimes I want them to look for AAA's first, but they keep going for some trucks or infantries when dozens of targets are available.

the biggest problem no one on youtube or the forum touches upon, is that the first laser detent doesn't work for guidance, you need to map the lase key to the second laser detent then hold it for the missile to track.

When i have a group of armor ahead and a single aaa or sa15 somewhere in said group george always goes for the airdefense assets first. Dont know if he makes diffrences between diffrent units but the types seem consistent.

After you destroy your first target, press long back on the George AI Helper and George will automatically re-search the same area.

I have a quality of life tip that no one seems to talk about yet. After you've gone through the process of having George find targets, after you fire on one, you don't have to look for them again. If you press and hold interface down (unslave) for 1 second then release, George will automatically look at the previous area and bring up the target list again. Allows you to acquire targets in the area and fire with ease. 😁

IF You up long for George he will turn green and he will engage all the targets one after another. Also down long will bring the list back up again.

For me, hovering this thing is a TOTAL pain in the ass. I have no issues with any other heli in game but this thing is a flat bitch. SOOOOOO wish we had an auto hover with all the shit you have to do to fire a weapon

It's important to note "YOU" as the pilot can also fire the Hellfire. From the point in which you have George lock on and select a target you then must WAS up the Hellfire yourself after that everything else is the same only you press and hold gun trigger second detent instead of consent to fire. You have him find a 2nd target after lock on you must was up the missle again. This is the method I use. I enjoy much ripping them off the rails my self lol.

Concise tutorial, thanks. How you kept the Apache at a stable hover state is quite intriguing to me. I will be all over the place if it was me. My warthog stick is not corporating with me flying the Apache. I have reduced the X saturation and played with curvature and still a challenge.

If you want George to "rescan" the original scan, hold down "S" = George AI Helper down. Saves having to reticule and pressing "W" repeatedly.

Hey brother sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Collective - No Curve, no deadzone Cyclic Pitch - Curve 10 - Deadzone 3 Cyclic Roll - Curve 10 - Deadzone 1 Rudder - Curve 10 - Deadzone 3 I dont change / use any saturation on any of the axis.

You're zooming up and zooming back is very smooth in your transitions seeming to stop wherever you want, can I ask how you have that bound and how are you are using it? Basically your user interface action for the zooming.

It’s in the mission editor under the advanced waypoint actions section. It’s the last tab on the right hand side, you need to untick the box labelled FCR Remove

At first he's in Active Pause mode. When he unpauses he uses Transition mode to view his accelration cue (little circle) and light movements on his joystick to keep the ball centered.

30 (yes thats thirty) curves on anti-torque pedals (same as Casmo) and 20 curves for roll on the cyclic. Yes, as a long term heli flyer in DCS, I've never had to put so much into curves before but with these settings I'm nice and smooth.

Hi there, I have a small problem, I don't get that dotted cross over the targets George is locked on to, I can see it on the MFD what target he is locked onto and lasing but not on the IHADSS. The dotted cross is inside that rectangular dotted box that is just over the cross at 3:08.

Good video, but the problem with george isn't simple training scenarios like this. It's in more "real world" scenarios where his lack of IFF and vague target descriptions becomes a big problem. He also always seems to use FLIR, which can make daytime VID pretty difficult. Obviously it's the first week of EA and it's being iterated, but just saying. Try this with one of the Rotor Ops scenarios and you'll see what I mean.

When you say to look at the flir to check your target and you can see an enemy tank. I literally could not see anything and I can never see anything when I'm in the apache either. I've always had trouble finding targets in a tpod like screen. Frustrates me no end.

Go to the Weapons Page and make sure TADS is select at the Acquisition Source. Check bottom right where it says ACQ, click that and select TADS

If you're trying to get Geroge to target something the George AI Helper panel must be open the entire time for weapon employment

AFAIK no brother, boom sticks are a front seat only thing, back seat gets Rockets and Guns.

Yes you can. WAS the Hellfires and you're good to go (tested with a human CPG who was unable to see that we had Hellfires equipped, so I did the trigger pulling). Don't forget that trigger protection though!

@@rob7566 Never had that issue. You might want to have the control indicator up and check if cyclic control is well centred. If I understand this correctly, looks like the newly introduced white box on the control indicator indicates the limit of the SCAS system and beyond a certain point it the stick will not move further.

@@rob7566 I am afraid this is hardcored and cannot be removed. Just by the chance, before taxing, is your parking brake level released? Normally if you increase collective to about 30%, have the parking brake released(pushed inside), move the cyclic forward, the Apache would taxi or move forward. Also check from the control indicator display that all axis are centered. I hope these help.

The George interface vehicle list is not very intuitive in VR. The list is too far down.
