In n Out purchases the smallest cheapest plots of land near freeways. The parcels are just barely adequate to accommodate the traffic even on slow days. They have learned people are willing to be inconvenienced to get their burgers.

All In-N-Outs should have a separate drive thru lane that's not connected to parking. There's just too much traffic to have them connected together anymore.
