I grew up on Oahu moved to California a 92 but every time we had visitors come to Hawaii we would take them to Polynesian cultural center, so I have been there numerous times. The nighttime luau and show there is great. It seems like it always changes a little to keep the entertainment fresh. I’m glad you liked that place , no roller coasters and Disney characters, but awesome history and cultural education.

We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center back in 2005 on our honeymoon. It is actually part of the Mormon Church we were told. I guess Mormons settled there around 1870 or so. The guy with the smoking coconut is the same guy we saw back then !

Coconut flakes in a bag are often preserved with almond oil that sometimes tastes rancid. Fresh coconut flakes are as delish as coconut water.

You have to check out Hanauma Bay. May be difficult for your parents to go down and back up the hill, but it's an incredible snorkeling area. I went there every weekend while I was stationed at Pearl Harbor. Also, hike up Koko Head mountain.

I think I went there once when I was about 7. I know I used to ask my dad (who is Hawaiian) and my memory recalls that he said it was too touristy, but in retrospect, I think he couldn’t afford to take me and my brothers. A good man, trying his best as a very young parent. ❤️

I was really hoping you would get to take your family to the PCC! Most of the entertainers and people you see around there are students at the nearby BYU Hawaii and this is how they pay for their schooling. It's a little on the spendy side but well worth it, especially the beautiful HA Breath of Life show. The fire guy (forget his name) is awesome, he's also a great artist and sells his artwork in the Hukilau Marketplace. What a wonderful day out enjoying all the cultural of the Islands!

Yay! You got to Shark’s Cove. My old childhood stomping grounds when I’d visit my tutu (my dad’s mom) I think you’d REALLY find the Heiau there interesting. Turn up the road by Foodland and as you go up the road, it will be on your right. Official name is Pu’u O Mahaka Heiau State Historic Site. The history is deep and the views are amazing. I’ve not seen it covered elsewhere and I think it would be right up your alley.

If you think of it, you might bring some fruit or flowers to leave as an offering. And it’s considered respectful to be mostly quiet. So I think filming would be ok…I know you usually speak softly. The last few times I’ve been, there hasn’t been anyone else there
@betsywhitehead58173 сағат бұрын
We went to shark’s cove, beautiful fish and sea urchin if you snorkel there! Beware it is shallow and rocky. Glad you got to see Kap at the Polynesian cultural center, he let us know he will be in the live action Moana, told us about his time in Atlanta to film it. He’s a funny guy haha I’m glad I’m getting to see these places again through your vids!

Enjoying seeing your adventures in beautiful Hawaii! It is extra special that your family is all together for this trip. Honeymooned on O’ahu in ‘88 and then returned in 2022 with our grown children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. Hawaii holds a special place in all our hearts. Next time you return to the Polynesian Cultural Center you should stay for the big nighttime show. It is spectacular!
