@copalfreak5107 Жыл бұрын
@@Kenny-yl9pc Adine Roode is the human. She is a found of HERD (the people who have this channel you are watching.) Gertjie and Matimba are the two rhinos in this video. Both were rescued by HERD after their mother was killed for their horn by poachers, who specifically hunt down and murder these creatures to take their horn and sell it.. usually to be ground down and powder and sold as a pseudo-aphrodisiac, an ingredient for 'traditional' medicines, trophies, jewelry, etc. The orphans that don't have horns yet are left to die. Thanks to organizations like HERD, the kill-count is down, but it's still very high (about every 20 hours).
@copalfreak5107 Жыл бұрын
@@donnadees1971 The horn transmits sensations because it is attached. Its akin to you touching your fingernail. While the nail itself has no nerves itself, the tiniest vibration can be felt. With Gertjie in particular, putting the nose to the ground is kind of like a dog asking for pets. But you still have to be very careful as they are still incredibly strong and even the slightest unexpected movement can cause them to startle or panic.. and that's one thing nobody wants.
@copalfreak5107 Жыл бұрын
@@TheGothicdolphin These videos are taken separately over a long time (several years).. not a single visit. The 'notches' are a way to help identify specific rhino. It tells if they are from Open or Bush type habitat, and a few other things. There is a small curve to the tips of some rhino ears that looks like a notch but it is not. Different regions and different rehabbers can use different coding systems as well. (HERD is different than HESC, where both Gertjie and Matimba were released from.) HESC is where Adine worked before she founded HERD. Over time the ears can change shape. Usually the notches will stay permanently, but not always. The left ear may have not taken the potassium peregrinate early enough, or that ear could have been ripped by trees, branches, fights, etc and healed back on it's own. The likelyhood of 2 different rhinos exhibiting the same behavior, however, is pretty remote, even if 'raised' by the same team.

Adine sei MAGNIFICA ❤😊

I now realize WHY this video was released today, I watched twice before getting out of my bed this morning. After looking at my calendar TODAY IS RHINO DAY. Thank you Adine, you had me crying at the end of the video, rhinos as babies ARE precious. Has Gertjie fathered any babies?

I think the 2 rhinos felt what Adine was feeling in their sweet rhino ways... staying for just long enough, and then wandering off into the bush. Thank you so much for saving them!

Now this truly brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful reunion. How many people get to visit with a rhino they rehabilitated. Adine. You have the golden touch! He put his nose down in the mud and said "ahhh, rub my nose". And what can we say about Lammie? Another jewel in sheep's clothing. ❤❤❤

Same Rhino? at 0:17 "Gertjie's" ears have triangle shaped cut-outs on both bottom sides. However, "Gertjie" at 8:01 has totally intact ears. Also, "Gertjies" juvenile pics with Lamie also show intact ears. I.D. cuts are done when animals are young- not full grown semi-wild BULLs. What's the trickery?

Oh Adine what an amazing emotional experience you just had. To see two of your babies that are wild now and you see them both after all this time. Is Gertjie the same Rino 🦏 you saw at the water hole the other day when the elephants refused to go in? How emotional for you. You at least know that they are safe and thriving and so loved by you. Even after all of these years. Hearing you crying breaks my heart.❤️🦏🦏❤️

Orphaned animals are like Adine's children. This is one of my favorite quotes: “Making the decision to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ” ― Elizabeth Stone

Adine - that was such a beautiful reunion in the wild. We can feel (and hear) your emotional goodbye as you sent Gertjie off - back to his day as a wild bull and to his companion Matimba. We are all in tears! But what an amazing connection you have with him. Blessings to you for all you do - for Rhinos and Elephants (and on and on) 🦏🐘❤

I think I would cry if I had to say goodbye to such a special soul . Letting that big guy go off with his companion is hard but the best thing for all good on you Adine for raising a healthy happy pair of rhinos and then letting them go be what they were born to be ...wild .

Matimbe stood a little distance away waiting for Gertig. They are so close, that the other rhino refused to leave,,and only started walking away when Gertig started walking towards him. The love Adine and Gertig have for each other will never die, ,but it is from different worlds. Gertig belongs in the wild, and he has Matimbe as companionship and they both watch out for the other. Adine & these 2 rhinos respect and love each other. Thats why it is so hard to let go because we want to see those we love daily. But freedom truly is letting go, and love is stronger because of it. The true story Born Free comes to mind as I saw Adine the human, and Gertig the rhino meet in the wild. Love is only of meaning when its free.

You are an angel, Adine. With all your Carers. This is one of the most beautiful relationships. I, too, wept with the bittersweet at the end.

Yesterday, when you posted the video of the herd being excited at the dam - possibly because of the rhino, this was the first I knew you had a particular friendship with one. This is beyond touching, Adine. The soft trust in his eyes. 😭😍 Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful bond you have with these extraordinary animals. Blessings to HERD. 🇿🇦🌍🍃🦋🦏🐘💙🙏
