@@shawnb9580 depends. The Thermal Autel drone will run you $5k. But most people could get away with using the DJI Mini 4 Pro or Air 3. Both have fantastic video and great price. If you don’t want to register it then the Mini 4 Pro is the way to go.

Drones are trackable both drone and transmitter, especially DJI. All DJI drones used on the combat line in ukraine have to be heavly modded, or you will get an arty round on top of you in under 5min.

Awesome stuff. Tiny flying thing you can take with you everywhere in your pocket. It would just be there in a backpack, like a toilet paper or bo'o'o'wo'ah. In a forest it's a perfect tool for orientation.

Good Video Nate. Drones are becoming one of the go to Op-Sec tools not to mention having defense capabilities. One can create a small fleet of programmed drones that will monitor a parameter and if any detections will send an alert. Yeah, the smaller drones have limitations, but they are getting there, plus most of the smaller drones "currently" fall under the 250-gram limit which do not need to be register with the FAA.

We are just an old couple on SSDI and Military retirement. Can't afford that but God has us covered and he doesn't require batteries or maintenance. Not to mention our Coyote friends that will let you know when someone that does not belong here is roaming around...even if it's a mountain lion. They alerted us on night and sure enough the most beautiful Mountain was trying to hide behind a lilac bush just outside our door. You should have a solar panel or windmill. Plus one or more large cap portable generators(that is a misnomer) Jackery or similar batteries. These are used primarily for re-charging small electronics. I have had excellent results with Tenergy rechargeable batteries, AA and AAA. Battery to battery comparison, rechargeables are about 4 times more expensive. I have gotten hundreds of recharges on the cells. I have also had good luck with BT-C2400 "opus" rechargers. They're about $35USD, but, they won't overcharge your batteries and you can recharge 1 to 4 batteries and mixed sizes.

Any advice on an indoor drone, operated from a somewhat decently secured room during a home invasion situation (granting the home occupant some time before breaking through wall/ door barriers)? Will the signal with the drone too quickly be interrupted due to home structure? Home user is in basement "safe room". Is this drone a good choice? Yes, due to sound it won't survive long, but to confirm intruder's existence, to get a quick idea of their numbers, if they're openly armed, current location... Perhaps this drone isn't a good choice due to poor low light camera performance? I'm interested in your thoughts.

Look at getting a cheap bind and fly tiny whoop with a radiomaster boxer or Tx16s or pocket, cheap skyzone or fatshark goggles. Tiny whoops are determined by prop size. They have ones with 1.6in, 2in, 2.5in etc props. My personal drone is a flywoo hexplorer 4in with a radiomaster boxer and fatshark scout goggles. I need to get a little flywoo nano or something to fly around inside the house. Hope this helps. Also watch Joshua Bardwell videos on building and programming drones

I recommend the DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2). On sale for $1100. Long 35 to 45 minute flights per battery and the drone, controller and 3 batteries and charger fit in a small camera bag very light and the camera is awesome. Going bigger get thermal! Iflight has the very best long distance 100mph FPV drones.

got 6s drones and some small little tiny whoops. I’d recommend analog and elrs for a headset and reviver. Most upgradable. Cheap but video quality looks like an old tv. so ya get what you pay for. Cetus x is a great kit. I’ve got meteor 65 pros and a nazgul eco. there fun too so if you like drones as a hobby.

Turn it up to where only dogs can hear it. A lot of the animals at a wildlife go away train dogs stay and they’re covered in that special type of chrome that cars have that make them look kind of invisible. Combined with movie science on discovery channel for “Predator”, they are basically invisible unless cloud shadow also they just said he can’t see them so those two are communicating between on the top of the WiFi bubble and cell pull down cloud right above

I’ve owned a few drones, all DJI, they are all very loud. You hear them most when they are directly overhead. When you get them out away from you, even at a lower altitude, they are not heard as easily.

My biggest issue as an fpv pilot is the lipos. Can't really take them around with you safely stored, so they need to be charged after an event. Even then they should be stored...not in a pack. Maybe a flywoo explorer would be a better option.

My wife found something that was pretty cool. It was a hand crank flashlight, the cool part was it has radio and USB charger slot on it. So in a situation where there is no electricity from the outlets in our house we can still charge stuff with this tool. Idk, I thought it was kind of neat.

The Neo is aimed at normies, selfie takers, kids, etc. It's a borderline toy. A Mini or Air would be loads more functional. DJI drones are pretty awesome sure, but one big downside with them you didn't mention is having to be logged into a DJI account, otherwise your drone is essentially crippled. Your altitude/distance will be limited to around 100 ft if not and will automatically log out after 90 days without internet access. And it tends to log you out randomly at times also.

But the problem is if it gets banned, and if you need your phone to operate it (which means the phone requires an app to operate) they will pull the app off the phones app marketplace and eventually require the phone manufacturers to erase banned apps off phone through system OS updates.

Here in South Africa - normal citizens are not allowed to use drones in suburban areas. Against the law - and i have one - and its such a useful tool to monitor and survey an area for invasion purposes.

C P Nate I see a new business for you as you shown plenty of basic drones with a camera but when SHTF folks will need drones with rigs for dropping boom booms and other drones with pew pew mounts over the last few years we have seen a couple folks who mounted pew pew on drones but only in combat zones are we seeing folks rigging up drop mounts for boom booms and we should know when SHTF folks will get real creative with drones of all sizes Just Saying !!!

I would like to have a drone This one is of course fun, but the main turn-off for me is that it makes too much noise and too bad it does not have the necessary basic functions, such as zooming in and no sensors. I would also definitely opt for a separate operating system It is obvious that all this will cost more When it comes to the homestead or serious situations..choosing for quality is always a better option

They have quiet props and if you go from 2 or 3 blade props to 6-8 blade it will have a higher pitch sound that’s not easily as heard

@countrytesla yes a wing is much quieter and some you can make fly for 3-6 HOURS. An atomicRc dolphin or one of the big glider style planes can go pretty far

so you know you have to have license in Canada with lots of restrictions like no fly over populated areas designated landing zones , name and address on drone so if it goes down they know who to blame lol
