This man was the best officer I ever served under in my military life. He no doubt listened and learned, because when I was with him in '69 he performed perfectly and minimized our casualties when we a company sized unit, went into an NVA's Battalion's AO, and poked the bear. God helped us a little too, but it Was Major Smith volunteering to lead our company when we swapped AO's during the '69 Tet period with a company from the 1st Cav, for what was supposed to be a 12 day operation, that lasted almost 50 days. Humping and searching for Chuck every day! Thank you again Major Smith (Apache 6). John Koons (Blackfoot 5).
