There's a version of this called the Night Of starring Riz Ahmed and Michael Kenneth Williams rip; it was on HBO in like 2016, iirc. First version was in 2008 in UK, says google. This plot has been made in mad countries but the US version is v good, highly worth a watch.

Great movie with great perspective showing how corrupt system can pressure innocents guilty until someone comes up publicly and confesses guilty after after that incident no compensation to the victim no proper apology no makeups for those tarnished reputations no proper support for rebuilding the reputation. I already saw some of victims of false accusations who proved innocent still the jail time and accusations haunts their career and reputation build years destroyed by single assumption. No one is safe from cruel world no innocents proves not guilty until money speaks

Happened in real life too bro , trust me and the police/detectives took credit/fame for solving a case. Happened to my friend before , he was beaten a lot and the police told him to just say yes to everything that been asked by the jury and had he not to to say yes to follow the police instructions he will get beaten again. But luckily in court he denied everything that been asked by the jury and the lawyer manage to win his case.
