I was there in the late season around 16 March. You can also take back Masse 1, so you don't have to ski the sluffy lower parts. Also at St. Martin Belleville were we stayed for the week i did that.

That's assuming Masse 1 is operating. Half of the days I was there, it wasn't open. I have done the same as you, however, in taking St. Martin 1 back down to avoid the poor snow quality.
