I think the reason the ps2 Yugioh games could look so good even by modern standards is partially because everything else was so simplistic or low cost to the engine, from the simplistic map tiles, the crude map of Britain, and much of the gameplay being in the cards themselves, more resources could go into making the models high end.

Honestly i feel all of that was done for PS1 then upscaled. The models themselves appear to be the only things in the game that are even close to ps2 standard.

Dude I remember playing this game as a kid and stumbled upon your channel. I've installed the mod and had my friends remote into custom duels using the parsec app so that we could play online and now we're addicted. Super cool mod my friend thanks for all of this.

It was good fun bro, thanks for your work on this. I started out with the water and fish deck and beat the White Side with it, mostly wins but I had some trouble until I got to Joey and creamed him. Afterwards I didn't lose again till the final boss, very nice. For the Red side, I switched it up a bit and built as much of the light deck as I could. Got two blue eyes and a mystic elf through lucky reincarnation, had to look up how reincarnation worked to cheese out four dancing elves and a wing egg elf so I could duplicate it. A few cheesy roulette wins got me two skull guardians, a twin headed thunder dragon and a blue eyes ultimate so I just stacked those in instead of my regular go tos. After I beat Seto I finally got the fourth dancing elf so I went ahead and Secretary of Defensed her so I could really go for the final battle. But Bro, that map for the final boss was twisted! Very nice design and deck choice there. The labyrinth tiles were in just the right spots that I found myself running all over the place. I wasn't sure how I was going to beat him, but I ended up boosting blue eyes ultimate to over 8000 atk and because the final ai can see your cards, he ran away and left his deck leader undefended. It was a bit more time consuming without darkness approaches and magician of faith(I forgot to duel yugi again), and the severe lack of low level fairies from Tia meant I had almost no easy monster fusions and I ended up having to rely really heavily on the trap cards, and the boss of the white side made me paranoid so I always carried at least 2 higher level healing cards. I would have lost more, but the ai just has so much difficulty lol! 10/10! Good nostalgia run from my childhood. I wish I could get you the deck list my buddy and I used back in the day, we could have made Mia and Tia nigh unbeatable! Very fun, will play again, I appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into the mod, it was mad creative and you restricted just the right cards! Thanks again man

Having redux and the original is a great pairing! The only thing that genuinely annoys me about swapping between the two is all the demote/promotes cause of the different level thresholds. Can fix this by modifying the original game to have the same levels. At that rate you can mod a lot of things though just like making everything available to obtain in slots and stuff.

I know this comment is completely out of context, and not even a discussion for this video, but I haven’t seen you post any videos in a while and I’m unsure of your stream schedule if you’re still doing that, so I figured this would be the best place for this. I watched your redux Trent starter stream before this video, and I would very much enjoy videos talking about mental health, as this is a topic I am very passionate about as well. Of course, with most of the people here being here for DoR, it’s not going to gain as much traction as these videos, but in my opinion you should go about it nonetheless. Obviously it’s a lot of work to put in just to have it not reach a wide audience so by all means, if you feel it’s not worth the effort then don’t do it. But, you do have a lot of insight and are able to explain your reasoning for your beliefs in a very easily understandable way. Even if someone doesn’t agree with the same viewpoint, they can understand why you think the way you do; which in my opinion is more valuable than simply being able to just say your side and leave it at that. I believe it would be something to look into doing, your passion alone will bring out great mental health content from you. But with that being said, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching you talk about decisions you’ve made to this mod; there is a wealth of love that has gone into this and it shows. Even though I haven’t played this mod (yet), I just find myself fascinated listening to you speak about it with such enthusiasm; it truly is charismatic when people talk about what interests them. Keep up the great work, and take care of yourself. No need to do anything that will burn you out, I look forward to more of your content in the future! 😁

It's so weird how there is no plant enemies to face so I could get laughing flower and dark plant for my plant deck. I had to settle for for the plant girls and some weevil cards. I didn't read the "read me" so I struggled against the massive amount of wasteland users at the beginning. Besides the misunderstanding on my part, this mod is very solid and the only way to replay the game imo. _And I playing the game again soon..._

I have something to ask. Maybe you can provide some detail info about redux mod especially power ups or equip. I found something i couldnt understand when playing custom or against weevil. Why equip(like sword of dark or insect armor) didnt show in graveyard? Meanwhile dark energy and invigoration show in graveyard slot

500+ equips dont show up in the graveyard slot for balance reasons, you need to reincarnate for them.

Not being able to get fusions with the ritual card and a monster to work is indeed a real heartbreaker. I would have loved that. Regardless, this mod is the best thing to ever happen to the game.

Yeah trust me when I say I would have loved it more than anyone. It would have just been *too* perfect honestly. Not only because thematically it seems cool, but because it would totally justify the existence of the ritual cards in the game. It would turn ritual cards and the ritual mechanic, from being the worst mechanic into the game, to one of the best/coolest and lots of cool and fun builds come come from it. Instead the ritual cards are just in the game and basically useless. If it worked, it would legitimately be one of my favourite things about Redux all things considered which is saying a lot

I love how your first thought for an overpowered card that is now available was Cosmo Queen. I mean, yes, but when I personally think of an overpowered DotR card that was unobtainable, I think Arsenal Bug. It's basically just Cosmo Queen for Insect decks + better because it just straight up has better stats than Cosmo Queen does (3500 Atk and Def with an Insect DL without any other buffs), it not only creates forest when flipped but also when attacked just like Aqua Dragon, it creates Forest tiles in a 2 tile range both times, unlike Aqua Dragon, and as if all that weren't enough, it's only a 3-star monster. That's just bonkers. A 3-star monster that, frankly, has better stats than Gate Guardian since it always fights in its favored terrain and therefore should always be thought of as having 4000 Atk/Def, alongside an overpowered effect. And Insects get a metric asston of powerups in DotR, and just one gives it better stats than BEUD. It's the frontline fighter in my PUGM deck that my friends fear. I'll just run an Ancient Tree of Enlightenment, PUGMs defending my DL lower stats on each turn while simultaneously letting me tell monsters apart from spells and traps because of the particle effects, and keep a well guarded Ancient Tree of Enlightenment to have Traps on when it benefits me and to turn them off when it doesn't. Then just throw a bunch of Laser Cannon Armor and Insect Armor with Laser Cannon on Arsenal Bug and go to town. Nothing can stop it without buffs of their own after even just two. The deck is only weak to Gorgon's Eye, but then all you do is run a Harpie's Feather Duster in case you run into it. And I will make a deck like this or similar to it in-game despite all the discouragement from grinding. Both to have a legit deck to duel friends with, and also because I've beaten YuGiOh Forbidden Memories without cheats before. Nothing you could have done to make grinding less convenient would be worse than that xD

You are correct, i'm just saying things off the cuff. Also I'm so used to my own mod now that I see Arsenal Bug as a 7 star monster like i made it in redux. Still stronger than cosmo queen arguably, but i dunno. Cosmo Queen appeals to me more so thats why it popped up first :P

I personally don't know, the only thing I do know is that it is not an easy task. The game uses its own weird character system for the sake of compression, so its really not as simple as just replacing text characters for characters.

Clovis, is there any way to modify the multiplayer so that the card information does not appear when it is my opponent's turn. Only the cards that are in the hand appear. Because usually that part is just closing your eyes.

The 1p vs 2p multiplayer you can simply select the hide card option in the custom duel and it will hide all the cards from both players, and you can hold R2 in the hand to temporarily display the hidden cards

So, I've been grinding on Bakura, and I've discovered that he has some rather... interesting behavior, to say the least. He'll often attack my face-up Gate Guardian with any face-up card he has. Regardless of whether Gate Guardian has like double the Atk of the monster he's attacking with. I assume this is a known issue with his AI, but just in case.

Early on I'd hoped to do this, but I never ended up pushing for it. By the end of things it worked out and we were fine just leaving it as it is. I'd like to say it isn't simple otherwise it would have been one of the first things we did, but I'm not fully sure

I just finished this mod. I loved it! My only criticism is that the new card rewards are so OP, it can make the game a little on the easier side. I got a high DC card from one of the first duels, and reincarnated to some BEWD and just kinda steamrolled after that. But that's probably just a problem with the game itself and not the mod. I'm probably gonna do another run with no reincarnation and maybe even no slots.

Beat the mod today after struggling super hard on my first like 4 duels. Is kind of funny because my record is like 30-5. Lost to one of the end game guys again to a perfect draw. I thought the mod was way harder than it was. Don't get me wrong it's still challenging and very fun, but no 4k Fairies running me down every game. I guess they were just drawing perfect.

Very much enjoyed the mod. Went in relatively blind aside from the first episode introduction warning what not to do. I unfortunately trivialized my play through using pupae of moth and aqua dragon. The first twenty or so battles were pretty humbling and getting smacked around by Tea and Tristan. Just wanted to thank you for time and apologize that we both love this shitty game and have sunk too much time into this cult of roses.

as long as you still enjoyed it - i dont really mind people using the 'overpowered 3 in a rows' because imo the 3 in a rows should be a substantial reward and really make the player feel like theyve earned something that they can rely on, gives the excitement to topdeck or draw into those strong cards. and because the game can be very tough without it, even if youre experienced, its just to help people cater to how they want to. people can even save state and re roll for the 'weaker' 3 in a rows, or just cheese the game and be op from the start and bulldoze people, its up to them at the end of the day. either way im glad you enjoyed it, i did want to breathe new life into the game so any positive experience i hear about does make me happy :)

Playing this, dueling Tea for me gave evidence that the maps would be well designed because she actually used the toon squares to protect herself and the only reason I won was because I had a genin.
