“An Insult!” Headteacher Katharine Birbalsingh Blasts Celebs Campaigning For Free School Meals

Celebrities, including Oscar winners Kate Winslet and Olivia Colman, have written to the Prime Minister, urging him to fund free school meals for every primary school pupil.
Katharine Birbalsingh, who has been dubbed the UK’s ‘strictest headreacher’, tells TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer that free school meals for every child would “undermine" parents' "sense of personal responsibility.”
"People like to virtue-signal because it will make them popular at a dinner party, instead of thinking what is going to help the children."

Love this woman. Back in the late 50s/early 60s I was lucky enough to go to a good local grammar school were we were taught and encouraged to think. We were encouraged to listen, research, debate and arrive at our own conclusions. Many of the teachers actually encourages us to challenge them which often led to lively debates in class. Amazing teaching that has helped me all my life.

Try telling that to that ghastly woman who runs the website called : MAMAKNOWSITALL. I covered it in a recent video. The things they teach their little kids would run shivers up your spine. I compared it to a good one, and after I had published it = I thought this "mama" that knows it all, is literally growing insecure psychopaths with her hellish parenting style. She is exactly that way, fills her daughters head with excuses and reasons to attack other pre-emptively before they get a chance to be racist against her. Made me really sad, that's why I did the video - but she is one of a billion horrible bacterial lifeforms with unfortunate kids like hers. I even said there is no amount of Government oversight or benefitting that could ever make this woman into a good mother. She's just atrocious.

One minute you can be making serious bank then suddenly your employer goes bust or they randomly decide to get rid of you. Then you're stuck doing something agency minimum wage with no guaranteed hours crap while you look for something that actually pays well.

Jesus Christ no way! This woman is clearly unable to teach children much of anything. She hasn't thought through what she is asking for _at all!_ Her little suggestion is actually terrible in so many ways I would need a few days to produce the trilogy of films about it :) She's spent too much time in the company of 6yr olds, and now thinks of the rest of the world in terms of that level of complexity. And boy does it show! - Nice lady, good babysitter. - Daft lady, terrible teacher. I have a lot of experience with teaching, and also a multitude of students. Which having watched this, is more than I can say for Catherine here! Oh wow that is such an abysmally bad idea - I am still laughing a little about it here. But she's got a good heart, I guess that's basically all a teacher needs to have in order that the kids stay alive. Low bar though I think! Not so long ago teachers had to actually be able to impart wisdom and demonstrate how to learn, then produce results. These days, if you don't cannibalise the children - and you have an odd identity then you have a job for life teaching. And we wonder why our society is on it's knees.

I feel the *absolute opposite* way, I would not let her within a mile of my kid. I would barely be aware of her being in the room. Even as a small child, I knew which adults were smart and worthy of my ears and which were just atrociously dull minded zombie-sheep who could safely be totally ignored. I was at schooI from 1957 untiI 1968 and I had to have schooI meaIs. I must say the food was absoIuteIy viIe, mostIy coId overcooked veg, Iumpy mash etc etc the worse being Iumpy semoIina. Stopped having school dinners and took sandwiches. Agree some of the meals were pretty grim. The thing that really stopped me was when I was about 7/8 they tried to force me to eat liver and drink milk both of which I loathed. Never had a school meal again.

There's no such thing as "free" -it's the taxpayers money. Child benefit and universal credit are paid for by the tax payer to 'poor parents' and amount to a significant amount per week. It should not be upon the tax payer to pay for 'free' meals on top of that.

Yes why not put real kitchens back into schools where children get cooked food not defrosted burgers and pizza. I remember my schools meals being really unhealthy because they were subcontracted to a catering company only at Christmas were the meals something resembling food.

Small goverment conservatives calling for more goverment to controll who has school dinners. Surely giving children a balance good meal at school would do wonders for oit communities. Little known fact during rationing in the uk people got healther cases of malnutrition fell disease due to poor nutrition fell.
