What a magnificent and enlightening interview with a true legend. That moment of her dancing Square Dance had me at the edge of my seat! I hope you will do more interviews with these incredible ballerinas who worked closely with Balanchine.

Marcus what a wonderful interview. Thank you. Merrill is one of my all time favorite dancers. She coached a dear friend at SFBallet in Ballo decades ago and she still talks about her time with Merrill with great affection and admiration. I don't suppose that was the divine Elizabeth Loscavio? I remember her so fondly in Ballo, T&V, and every difficult Balanchine ballerina role (her 'My One and Only' was astounding!)

Marcus, I share your exasperation about the musicians blocking the filming as any true balletomane and Balanchine-omane would. It's so rivalrous, anti-ballet, anti dance and anti historical sacredity and . Don't get me going either! This interview was superb. Sometimes the names of the ballets weren't said or said so fast it was hard to follow the discussion of exactly which ballet was being spoken about but a most wonderful interview, although painful in alot of ways. Wonderful. The reference to the Meghan Fairchild interview was so interesting - Merrill reaction to Meghan's reaction to the ballet being too long and too hard but the whole concept of it being missed.
