In 1610 Cervantes wrote the second book of Don Quixote. And all of you who haven’t read the book is ignorant! You then will be sooooo impressed with this Type of theater!!! Why is it all of you keep rediscovering the Mediterranean. And then you people take it as if it was ALL yours!!! Wtf Anglosaxons you suck ass!! It’s pathetic!!! You are never original. Never!! So stop usurping

It doesnt mean I'm not appreciating the theatre, I'm a theatre student. Just because people dont know loads about a specific culture you're talking about.... I'm a harry potter fan so I thought I'd point it out, cuz why not?

@@adriansosa1430 Also gonna point out that was doing research into Brechtian and Epic Theatre when I made this comment. I was writing a portfolio of research as part of my Drama degree. So don't make out I'm not impressed by it, or I wouldn't have spent the past year doing a degree on it. Oh and I'm so sorry that I don't speak Spanish, there are hundreds of other languages in the world that I could've learnt, but I'm spending more time focusing on my degree

That's one of the most important aspects of Brechtian theater. On one hand, plays made in this style usually strife to not hide the artifice behind a theatrical production. On the other hand, however, how do you know the actor is actually reading, and not just pretending to read?

David Lynch Is Brechtian Film
@jakob9526
@jakob9526 5 жыл бұрын
S Scholex No. David Lynch intentionally tries to create dreamscapes that try to engage the audience with at times surrealist imagery. Brecht does not try to engage. He actively works against the creation of a bond between audience and characters. While some of Lynch‘s characters lack emotional complexity in most of his œuvre you will find characters that are obviously meant to be relatable to some extent. Twin Peaks: The Return lacks such a character for a large junk of its runtime, but it doesn’t intentionally alienate the audience with demonstrating its existence as a fictitious story and its nature as a film, while it was important to Brecht to never be illusive enough to let the audience forget they were watching a play.
@jonathanmelia
@jonathanmelia 5 жыл бұрын
Jakob Wernisch Lynch’s influences are the surrealistic cinema of Maya Deren and Jean Cocteau, and the fusion of painting and sound, feeling his way to a structure. He sees himself as apolitical, the antithesis of everything Brecht is. His characters aren’t realistic (except in The Elephant Man or The Straight Story, the only films Lynch didn’t write himself), but are more to do with exploring the subconscious, rather than for political or intellectual purposes. In terms of Brechtian cinema, one would look to someone like Lindsay Anderson, in his films “if...” or “O Lucky Man.”
