An introduction to the long-silent Choir division on the Midmer-Losh organ, After many decades of silence, this newly-restored division is making incredible sounds. As of October 2022 approximately 28 of the 37 ranks in the Choir division are playing and this video demonstrates all of these with the exception of the two mixtures. We will feature those and the reeds in upcoming videos.

The celestes are lush by themselves but when you put everything together like they did at the end of the video, it's next level sound design... I can only dream of the day when this organ is fully functional again

Absolutely… I loved that sound of what was being played toward the end. The organ at my childhood church has a small section which sounds like that and it was always a treat to hear it being used

Thrilling to see the progress being made. All we need now is for the King of the King of Instruments to be appreciated and valued by modern society for what it is, as it was 80 or so years ago, so that it may never fall silent again!

Now this is the kind of video that i really like. A video showing a rank or a whole division sounding for the first time in 60 years in this case of the choir division. I would enjoy seeing a video of the voicing process once the rest of the ranks (which are 9 more ranks) are reinstalled and a stop demonstration of those ranks just like this video. Thanks so much for sharing this. Keep these videos coming. I really enjoy seeing this ranks come back to life and hearing them for the first time in so long

Oooh!! I can see why the 'Choir' division is considered an accompaniment division! Softer and more ethereal passages are going to sound even more phenomenal now! ^^

Magnificent!!! There needs to be a semi annual show featuring the organ and some large choirs-one for the December holidays and another for July 4. That instrument needs to get all the accolades it deserves. It’s amazing.

I have noticed that a lot if not all previously recorded recitals especially recent recordings have been removed from both YT and FB pages what is the reason for that happening ? I had been recommending the channels to People that have never heard of the Midmer_losh or boardwalk hall Organs.

We’re not aware of anything being taken down from KZbin but Facebook has been a major issue with ridiculous copyright claims and videos being taken down for no reason. It’s very frustrating but we’re trying to keep up with it!

It looks like two divisions are the full 88 key divisions meaning they go all the way down to 32 in the base abd all the way up to the 1 foot level in the treble registry.
@KingdaToro
@KingdaToro Жыл бұрын
That's the Grand Great and Grand Choir. Essentially, the Pedal divisions are extended upward to a seven-octave (85 key) range. Pedal Right = Grand Great, Pedal Left = Grand Choir. For example, the Grand Ophicleide (world's loudest organ stop) is in Pedal Right, it has 16' and 8' stop tabs in Pedal Right, and an 8' stop tab in Grand Great. The actual Choir division being played here only has the usual 5-octave range, even though its home manual has 7 octaves.

Thanks for this update on the restoration progress. How much work is still required to bring the organ up to 100% playable in all divisions and ranks? Thanks for answering my question.
@KingdaToro

The remaining three side chambers and the two ceiling chambers still need to be restored. With the completion of the Choir, next up will be Gallery I and II in the Right Center. Gallery III and IV (and the piano) in the Left Center will be after that, then Brass Chorus and String II in the Right Forward. The ceiling chambers (Echo, Fanfare, String III) will be last due to difficulty of access. The right stage chamber is fully playable but only partially restored, it's being restored stop-by-stop as needed. In addition, the consoles will need to be restored. The mobile 5-manual console will be done first, and once it's complete and able to play the organ, the main 7-manual console can be taken offline for restoration.
